A Fate Worse Than Death is a Romulan-space story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you help Charvanek deal with a threat to the security of the Romulan Star Empire. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 19 to complete, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The work covers Draken, Losti and Nabok, with a spy at roughly 418,676 strength and 24 kills against level 28 or higher hostiles. The reward is 284,000 Tritanium, 57,000 Dilithium and 190 3★ Explorer Parts.
A Fate Worse Than Death objectives
There are six objectives and no choice split:
- Rendezvous with Charvanek. Location: Draken.
- Hunt down the spies. Location: Losti.
- Defeat the spy. Location: Losti. Enemy strength is roughly 418,676.
- Defeat 24 hostiles of Level 28 or higher.
- Follow Charvanek to Nabok. Location: Nabok.
- Scan the outpost on Ximay. Location: Nabok.
You meet Charvanek in Draken, then track the spies to Losti and defeat one of them. The 24 hostile kills come next, with no system named, so any hostile of level 28 or higher counts. After that you follow Charvanek to Nabok and scan the outpost on Ximay to finish.
Where and what warp
No pickup system is listed. The mission is available from warp 1, but completing it needs warp 19 for the route through Draken, Losti and Nabok.
The game lists a recommended level of 1. The spy at about 418,676 strength and the level 28 hostile requirement are the real measures of whether you are ready.

Caveat Emptor asks you to pay 500,000 Dilithium and needs warp 23, so this mission is easier on range and costs nothing to run. Its scripted fight is a little harder than Vanosh in Caveat Emptor, though, and the 24 hostile kills add the most grinding of the three.
Cracks on the Surface keeps the enemy strength in the same band, around 415,000 to 432,000, but asks for three fights across three systems. If the spy in Losti gives you trouble, strengthen your ship before moving on.
Tips
Start the 24 hostiles right after the spy fight. They only need to be level 28 or higher, so if suitable targets are around Losti you can clear them without a separate trip.
Save the Explorer Parts for an Explorer tier-up. At 190 3★ parts, this is a bigger single batch than the 120 Explorer Parts in Cracks on the Surface.
