Breen Marauder

The Breen Marauder is a neutral-space hostile in Star Trek Fleet Command that spawns as an Interceptor across levels 60 to 71. It appears both as the regular Breen Marauder and as a hazard-zone version the game tags “Breen Marauder HAZ,” and this guide covers both. You find it in mid- to late-game systems, where it drops 6-star Broken Interceptor and Survey parts. Bring an Explorer to counter it.

How to beat the Breen Marauder

The Breen Marauder only appears as an Interceptor, so bring an Explorer. In the combat triangle Explorers beat Interceptors, and there is no second hull variant to swap between as you climb the levels. Avoid taking a Battleship: it already loses the triangle to an Interceptor, and this hostile carries a ship ability built to punish that exact choice.

That ability is Battleship Exploitation. It raises the Marauder’s damage against Battleships for the first five rounds of combat: 50% at levels 60 to 62, 75% at 63 to 65, and 100% from 66 to 71. Against an Explorer the ability does nothing, which is one more reason to stick to the counter class.

The Marauder leans on Kinetic guns for its heaviest hits, so an Explorer’s stronger shields and mitigation soak the fight better than a glass-cannon build would. Favor officers that add mitigation or defense over pure damage if you plan to farm the higher levels back to back.

For crew, use a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, then fill the other seats with officers that add damage or mitigation. These are level 60-plus targets, so the early cadet crews are well behind you by now. Check the Officer Tier List for current picks, and remember that crews shift with the meta, so treat any list as a snapshot rather than a fixed answer.

Where to find the Breen Marauder

The Breen Marauder clusters in neutral systems that get deeper as the level climbs. The lower levels sit around warp 700 in systems like Daz, Esteris, and Krokenia, while the top of the range pushes out to warp 1500 in Memorium and Netania-6. Those deeper, higher-warp systems are where the hazard-zone spawns live, so set your warp range before you head out. The spread also narrows as you climb: levels 70 and 71 show up in only a handful of systems, with level 71 limited to Memorium and Netania-6, so the top of the range is easy to pin down.

Rewards and what it drops

The Breen Marauder pays out in 6-star ship parts, the materials you need to build and tier up top-end ships. Ship XP also scales with level, climbing from about 16,000 at level 60 to 57,000 at level 71, so the higher spawns are better when you are leveling a ship you want to grind.

Drop What it is
6★ Broken Interceptor Parts Parts used to build and tier up 6-star Interceptor ships.
6★ Broken Survey Parts Parts used to build and tier up 6-star Survey (mining) ships.

Breen Marauder stats

Stats vary little by hull here since it is Interceptor-only, but they climb steeply with level, so scout the exact spawn before you commit.

Level Total strength Hull HP Shield HP Attack Defense Ship XP
60 3,530,520,005 2,055,902,735 2,055,902,735 1,275,232,200 199,385,070 16,000

Breen Marauder firing pattern

The Marauder splits its fire between one Energy weapon and three Kinetic weapons. The Energy shot fires every round for steady pressure, while the heavier Kinetic guns fire every other round and land the bigger hits, so time your repairs and mitigation around those Kinetic volleys.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 1 40,500,000–49,500,000 Every round 10% (1.8x)
Kinetic 3 81,000,000–99,000,000 Every other round 10% (1.8x)

The Breen in Star Trek

The Breen are one of Star Trek’s most secretive species, first shown in Deep Space Nine. They never remove their refrigerated helmets on screen, and even neighboring powers struggle to say for certain what they look like or how their society is run. Late in the Dominion War the Breen allied with the Dominion and shocked the Federation with an energy-dampening weapon that left ships dead in space. That reputation for cold, sudden violence fits a raider that hits hard in the opening rounds and expects the fight to be over quickly.

Is the Breen Marauder worth grinding?

If you are near the level cap for these spawns, the Breen Marauder is a steady source of 6-star Broken Interceptor and Survey parts, with solid ship XP at the higher levels. It is a single-hull target with a predictable Interceptor profile, so it farms cleanly once you have the right ship parked in the right system. Match your warp to the level, bring an Explorer, and leave the Battleship at the station.
