Batten Down the Hatches is a three-part chain about an old enemy, the crew of the Serene Squall, escaping from prison. You track them down, capture them and then put them to work mining Transogen. All three parts are recommended for level 32. The chain begins at the prison facility in P’Jem, and warp to complete is 27 for Part 1 and 30 for Parts 2 and 3. Rewards are mostly Transogen materials, with three batches of SNW Black Ops M’Benga shards at the end. There is just one fight, but Part 1 ends with a big Parsteel donation.

Batten Down the Hatches Part 1
The Serene Squall has broken out of prison. You help the facility in P’Jem, work out the escape vector, then follow distress calls and the ship’s trail through Noakyn, Azati, Galorndon Core and Velestra, where the colony needs a donation.
- Render assistance to the prison facility (P’Jem).
- Determine the Serene Squall’s escape vector (P’Jem).
- Investigate the distress call at Noakyn.
- Travel to Azati.
- Follow the Serene Squall’s trail to Galorndon Core.
- Respond to the distress call at Velestra.
- Donate 15.9M Parsteel to help the colony.
Warp to complete: 27. Rewards: 500 Raw Common Transogen, 250 Raw Uncommon Transogen, 160x 15 Minute Assignment Speed Up and 828,000 Tritanium.
Batten Down the Hatches Part 2
You intercept the Serene Squall in Terasai. The capture plan uses Transogen: mine 15 Raw Common Transogen, lure the ship away from an asteroid, plant the payload and detonate it before attacking.
- Intercept the Serene Squall (Terasai).
- Mine 15 Raw Common Transogen.
- Lure the Serene Squall away from the asteroid (Terasai).
- Plant the payload of 15 Transogen.
- Move to a safe distance then detonate the payload (Terasai).
- Attack the Serene Squall (Terasai, enemy strength ~347,055).
Warp to complete: 30. Rewards: 1,000 Raw Common Transogen, 500 Raw Uncommon Transogen, 1,900 3★ Raw Gas and 2 Mining Bulkhead.
Batten Down the Hatches Part 3
With the Serene Squall disabled, you speak with Captain Pike, lead the ship to a mining site in Hoskk and show its crew how to mine Transogen safely.

- Show the Serene Squall how to safely mine 5 Raw Common Transogen.
Warp to complete: 30. Rewards: 20 Transogen Forge Foundation, 150 Refined Uncommon Transogen, 2,000 Commander XP and SNW Black Ops M’Benga shards (x3).
Tips for completing Batten Down the Hatches
Part 1 is all travel and no fighting, but it ends with a 15.9 million Parsteel donation to the colony at Velestra. Have that ready before you start.
Parts 2 and 3 involve Transogen mining: 15 Raw Common Transogen in Part 2 and a 5-unit demonstration in Part 3. Part 2 also asks you to plant a payload of 15 Transogen.
The only ship fight is the attack on the Serene Squall in Part 2, listed at about 347,000 enemy strength.
Warp tops out at 30, so any ship that reaches Terasai and Hoskk can finish the chain.
Are the Batten Down the Hatches rewards worth it?
It is a fair trade if you need Transogen. You get 1,500 Raw Common Transogen, 750 Raw Uncommon Transogen, 150 Refined Uncommon Transogen, 20 Transogen Forge Foundation, two Mining Bulkheads and M’Benga shards, plus 828,000 Tritanium and 1,900 3★ Raw Gas.
