Bad Moon Rising is a Borg story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you investigate a disturbance on the edge of Federation space. It has a recommended level of 25, starts at warp 1, and needs warp 25 to complete. In Lainey you defeat a Borg Scouting Cube at roughly 129,975 strength and then escape. Bad Moon Rising objectives
There are three objectives and no choice split:
- Investigate a disturbance on the edge of Federation space. Location: Lainey.
- Defeat the Borg Scouting Cube. Location: Lainey. Enemy strength is roughly 129,975.
- Escape.
The investigation in Lainey turns up the Borg, and the Scouting Cube is the only fight. The final step is simply to escape, with no location attached, which ends the mission.

One Last Effort has a lower warp and no listed fight, and it is a tour of all three factions ahead of the Mega Borg Cube. Bad Moon Rising is the combat half and pays more.
Tips
Bring a combat ship to Lainey. The Scouting Cube is the only enemy, but at roughly 129,975 strength it will beat a mining or survey ship.
Arrive repaired. The fight comes right after the investigation step, and the mission ends with the escape rather than a return to your Station.
Plan for One Last Effort next. It sends you across three factions’ territory, so a ship with good warp range helps more than raw firepower there.
