Arkonian Trader

The Arkonian Trader is a Klingon faction hostile that spawns at levels 37 to 41 in the Burke system, deep in Klingon space. It only appears as a Survey ship, so any strong warship can bring it down without worrying about class counters. Kills raise your Federation and Romulan reputation, lower your Klingon reputation, and drop Parsteel, Dilithium, or 4-star Broken Survey Parts depending on the level you hit.

How to beat the Arkonian Trader

The Arkonian Trader only spawns as a Survey ship, and Survey hulls sit outside the usual counter triangle. No class gets a damage edge against it, and there is nothing to swap between levels: bring whichever warship in your fleet hits hardest. Its defense stat runs well ahead of its attack at the lower levels, so the fight is less about surviving a beating and more about chewing through a tanky target before repair costs pile up. Watch the jump at level 41, though: its hull pool is more than four times the level 39 figure, so a ship that farms the lower levels comfortably can stall out at the top of the range. Step up one level at a time rather than assuming the whole band plays the same.

For crew, follow the standard hostile-grinding principle: a captain that raises weapon damage against hostiles, backed by officers that add more damage or shave down incoming hits. At levels 37 to 41 you are well past the point where the early cadet crew keeps up, so pull from the strongest hostile crews you own and check the officer tier list for current picks. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any named lineup as a starting point rather than a fixed answer.

Where to find the Arkonian Trader

Every Arkonian Trader in the game lives in one place: Burke, a Klingon faction system with a warp requirement of 52. All five levels share that single system, so once your ship can make the jump you can work the entire range without moving. That also means competition can be stiff on busy servers, since anyone else grinding the Trader is parked in the same spot. Burke is also Klingon faction space, so mind your surroundings while you farm: a mining or grinding ship sitting in one system for a long stretch is an easy mark for other players.

Rewards and what it drops

The Arkonian Trader is a dual-faction grinder’s target. Each kill adds Federation and Romulan reputation while subtracting Klingon reputation, which makes it useful when you are building the first two and willing to let the third fall. Levels 37 to 39 pay out Parsteel and Dilithium on top of the faction points; levels 40 and 41 swap those for 4★ Broken Survey Parts. Ship XP climbs steeply too, from 383 per kill at level 37 to 1,625 at level 41.

The Arkonian Trader carries a single energy weapon that fires every round, starting on round one. There is no burst round to time repairs or mitigation around: damage arrives in a steady stream, so total durability matters more than round-by-round timing. Roughly one shot in ten lands as a critical hit at 1.5 times normal damage. The figures below come from the level 37 spawn and scale up with level.

The Arkonians in Star Trek

The Arkonians are a reptilian species introduced in Star Trek: Enterprise. In the episode “Dawn,” an Arkonian pilot named Zho’Kaan shoots down Commander Trip Tucker’s shuttlepod, and the two crash on a desert moon where they are forced to cooperate to survive. Arkonians are territorial and suspicious of outsiders; the Vulcans spent decades in strained contact with them and considered the relationship one of their diplomatic failures. Their biology is unusual by Alpha Quadrant standards, too: Arkonians cannot drink water, a detail that nearly kills Zho’Kaan during the ordeal on the moon.

Is the Arkonian Trader worth grinding?

Grind it if you are pushing Federation or Romulan reputation and can afford the hit to your Klingon standing; the Trader is one of the cleaner ways to build both at once in the level 37–41 band. The level 40 and 41 spawns are the prize, paying out 4★ Broken Survey Parts and roughly four times the ship XP of the lower levels. Everything sits in one system, so warp into Burke, pick the highest level your ship handles comfortably, and settle in.
