Altered Genome is a level 71 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you help Dr. Himel of Section 31 capture live Surgewalkers for study. You pick it up in Xaporila, and it needs warp 1,550 to start and to finish. The work is mostly combat: 10 hostile kills and one Surgewalker ship at about 4.2 trillion strength. It pays 371,000 Σ-Parsteel, 1,084,000 7★ Raw Crystal and two 1 Day Peace Shields, with no faction reputation attached.
Altered Genome objectives
Dr. Himel has heard about you from Director Sloan. Himel found a group of Surgewalkers but could not take any specimens alone, and now sends you to Alphioma. There is no choice split:
- Proceed to the coordinates in Alphioma.
- Defeat 10 hostiles of level 72 or higher.
- Disable the Surgewalker ship in Alphioma (enemy strength ~4,174,048,810,077).
- Capture the Surgewalkers in Alphioma.
- Return to the Section 31 base in Sendisez.
Himel first asks you not to harm the specimens too badly, then complains when they flee and tells you to disable a ship’s engines instead. Five Surgewalkers are beamed aboard and taken back to the base. When Maia asks what will happen to them, Himel talks about understanding how they survived the surge, admits that sacrifices must be made, and reminds you the job is top secret.
Where and what warp
The pickup is Xaporila, the fighting all happens in Alphioma, and the hand-in is at the Section 31 base in Sendisez. Warp 1,550 covers both the start and the finish. The recommended level is 71, but note that the kill objective only counts hostiles of level 72 or higher.

Tips
Check hostile levels before you start shooting. With a recommended level of 71, it is easy to farm level 71 targets that do not count toward the 10 kills; only level 72 and up register.
