A Drop in the Ocean

A Drop in the Ocean is a level 70 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where the overworked refugee coordinator Maeve mistakes you for a volunteer and puts you on deliveries. You pick it up in Uyama and need warp 1,550 to start and to complete. The route has two fights, both against locals angry about where the aid is going. The reward is modest for the effort: 23,000 Σ-Parsteel, 2,500 Σ-Dilithium, 4,000 Trait XP and 1 Gravimetric Data.

A Drop in the Ocean objectives

Maeve has a queue of refugees to process and no time to hear Maia explain that you are not a volunteer. She sends you to the depot for a shipment, and then to rehouse the newest arrivals. There is no choice split:

  • Pick up the supplies in Uyama.
  • Disable Lir’s ship in Uyama (enemy strength ~4,314,618,503,236).
  • Deliver the supplies to Otralitea.
  • Return to Uyama.
  • Proceed to Ro’Antcha.
  • Disable Peig’s ship in Ro’Antcha (enemy strength ~3,423,395,691,968).
  • Return to Uyama.

Lir intercepts you at the depot because he wants the supplies for his own people, and after the fight he admits he was only trying to feed them. The shipment goes to Mox and a community living inside the wrecks of ships that were pulled through an anomaly, a place they call the Shipyard. On the second run you carry a group of Thallorans, including Keyo, to Ro’Antcha, where the Aeonian Peig says the colony is full and opens fire. Maeve admits at the end that her work is a drop in the ocean compared with the scale of the problem in the Margins.

Where and what warp

The mission is picked up and handed in at Uyama. It needs warp 1,550 to start and warp 1,550 to complete. You make two round trips from Uyama, one to Otralitea and one to Ro’Antcha. The recommended level is 70.

A Drop in the Ocean rewards

Reward Amount
Σ-Parsteel 23,000
Σ-Dilithium 2,500
Trait XP 4,000
Gravimetric Data 1

Other level 70 missions without a faction

Several other level 70 missions share the warp 1,550 range and carry no reputation change:

Mission Pickup Warp Main rewards
A Drop in the Ocean Uyama 1,550 23,000 Σ-Parsteel, 2,500 Σ-Dilithium, 4,000 Trait XP
Outage Donrunei 1,550 140,000 Σ-Tritanium, 2,000,000 7★ Raw Gas, 80 1 Day Speed Up
Pay It Forward Oraalen 1,550 12,000 Σ-Tritanium, 40,000 Σ-Parsteel, 7 12 Hour Assignment Speed Up
Rally for the Margins Otralitea 1,550 2,800 Σ-Dilithium, 145,000 Officer XP, 400 Ultra Recruit Token (first path)
Hot Cargo Alvolea 1,550 26,000 Σ-Parsteel, 7,000 Σ-Tritanium, 90 15 Minute Σ-Repair Speed Up (first path)

A Drop in the Ocean is the only one here that pays Trait XP. On raw resources, Outage pays far more for the same warp.

Tips

Run this one for the 4,000 Trait XP. The Σ-Parsteel and Σ-Dilithium amounts are small at this level, so if resources are what you need, Outage is the better use of a ship. The Σ resources page explains both currencies.

Lir’s ship is the tougher of the two at about 4.3 trillion strength, and it comes second in the list, straight after the pickup. Arrive in Uyama repaired. Peig’s ship in Ro’Antcha is lighter at about 3.4 trillion.

The refugee crisis you see here grows out of events in the Margins chain. There is no faction on this mission, so it does not move your faction reputation either way. The mission guide lists what else is available at level 70.
