USS Franklin-A Part 10

USS Franklin-A Part 10 is the second-to-last step in the eleven-part USS Franklin-A mission chain in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 48. Its only objective is to upgrade Operations to level 49, and it needs warp 1 to start and to finish, so no ship leaves your station. The reward is one Franklin-A Delta Retrofit Key, and completing it unlocks USS Franklin-A Part 11. The reward is small next to the upgrade it asks for, but it costs nothing extra.

USS Franklin-A Part 10 objectives

There is one objective and no choice split:

  • Upgrade Operations to Level 49.

The whole chain carries the same story line: upgrade your Station to unlock updates for the USS Franklin-A. Parts 1 to 8 pay out named Franklin parts, and Parts 9 to 11 switch to retrofit keys. Part 10 is the middle key, the Delta, sitting between the Alpha key from Part 9 and the Omega key from Part 11.

Where and what warp

No system is attached to the objective. The mission needs warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, so there is nowhere to fly and nothing to fight. The recommended level is 48, one below the Operations 49 target, which is how every part of this chain is set up.

What Operations 49 asks for

The upgrade is the whole mission, and at this stage it is a big one. Current game data lists this base cost and unboosted build time for Operations level 49:

Requirement Amount
Tritanium 1.57B
Parsteel 171.36B
Dilithium 525.00M
4★ Uncommon Refined Ore 12,500
4★ Rare Refined Ore 3,400
Unboosted build time 2629d 7h
Buildings needed first Shipyard 48

Only one building gates this level: Shipyard 48. The resource bill is the harder part, with Parsteel in the hundreds of billions and more than half a billion Dilithium.

USS Franklin-A Part 10 rewards

The reward is 1 Franklin-A Delta Retrofit Key. Completing the part also unlocks Part 11.

Operations 49 is also the target of the separate Operations 49 mission, which pays 22 each of 4★ Rare Refined Ore, 4★ Rare Refined Crystal and 4★ Rare Refined Gas. The single upgrade clears both.

Where Part 10 sits in the chain

Part Recommended level Objective Reward
Part 1 36 Operations 37 Franklin Warp Interlock Mk. II
Part 2 38 Operations 39 Franklin Warp Conduit Mk. II
Part 3 40 Operations 41 Franklin Warp Relay Mk. II
Part 4 42 Operations 43 Franklin Warp Regulator Mk. II
Part 5 43 Operations 44 Franklin Warp Injector Mk. II
Part 6 44 Operations 45 Franklin Warp Containment Mk. II
Part 7 45 Operations 46 Franklin Warp Coil Mk. II

Part 9 47 Operations 48 Franklin-A Alpha Retrofit Key
Part 10 48 Operations 49 Franklin-A Delta Retrofit Key

By Part 10 you have collected eight Franklin parts and the Alpha key. One more upgrade after this one, to Operations 50, finishes the chain.

Tips

Line up Shipyard 48 early. It is the only building prerequisite for Operations 49, and if it is still in progress the Operations upgrade cannot start.

Budget for the long build. At more than 2,600 days unboosted, this is an upgrade to plan well ahead, with the resources stockpiled before you queue it.

Collect both mission payouts when Operations 49 completes: this part and the Operations 49 mission share the same objective.

The previous step is USS Franklin-A Part 9. All eleven parts are laid out together on the USS Franklin-A chain guide, and the rest of the game’s missions are sorted on the mission guide.
