The Tritanium Mine

The Tritanium Mine is a one-step mining mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 7. You pick it up in Risa, where the Risians want a local Tritanium mine worked down so they can sell the mineral as jewelry. It needs warp 5 to start and to finish, asks you to mine 100 Tritanium, and pays 2,500 Parsteel plus an Encryption Key. That key is what the Codes mission asks for, which is the main reason to run it.

The Tritanium Mine objectives

There is a single objective and no choice split:

  • Mine 100 Tritanium.

The mission data gives no separate system for this objective, only the Risa pickup. You need a ship that can mine, and 100 Tritanium is the whole requirement. There is no fight attached to it and nothing to donate.

Where and what warp

The mission is picked up in Risa. Both the start and the finish are listed at warp 5, so any ship that can make the jump to Risa has enough range to complete it. The recommended level is 7.

If you are searching for where to mine Tritanium in general rather than for this mission, the Tritanium resource page covers the resource itself. This page sticks to the mission.

The Tritanium Mine rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 2,500
Encryption Key 1

The Encryption Key is the item that ties this mission into the wider early storyline. Codes, a level 6 mission, asks you to collect one Encryption Key from a mission in Risa, Tellun, Yridia or Maluria and hand it to Toryn. The Tritanium Mine is the Risa option.

The Tritanium Mine and the other Encryption Key missions

Four missions, one in each of the systems Codes names, pay an Encryption Key. All four ask for the same thing, mining 100 Tritanium, and all four need warp 5. They differ on level and on the extra rewards:

Mission Picked up in Recommended level Rewards
The Tritanium Mine Risa 7 2,500 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key
Depriving the Enemy Tellun 8 2,400 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key, 2 Domitia shards
Plausible Cover Yridia 8 2,400 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key, 2 Helvia shards
Malurian Tritanium Maluria 8 2,400 Parsteel, 1 Encryption Key, 2 K’Bisch shards

The Tritanium Mine is the lowest level of the four and pays 100 more Parsteel than the others, but it is also the only one with no officer shards. The stories differ too. In Risa you are helping the locals turn Tritanium into jewelry; the Maluria mission collects a sample for a Romulan surveyor, the Tellun mission thins out Elas’s Tritanium for the Troyians, and the Yridia mission is cover for a narcotics drop-off.

Tips

Send a mining ship, not a combat ship. The only objective is mining, and nothing in this mission needs you to fight.

Run it for the key if Codes is open. Codes needs only one Encryption Key, and this is the lowest level route to one. If you would rather have Domitia, Helvia or K’Bisch shards on the way, take the matching level 8 mission instead, since the Parsteel difference is only 100.

Codes itself pays 1,500 Parsteel and 20 Recruit Tokens, so The Tritanium Mine and Codes together come to 4,000 Parsteel for a short mining job and a handover. Every other early mission is listed by level on the mission guide.
