The Trap is a three-part mission chain in which you build a Transwarp Snare to capture the Hierarch. You deploy transwarp coil structures in Lynch 9, Vejvoda 9 and Romero 9, fight Gul Terket’s Cardassians, then lure the Hierarch to Valjavec 9 and disable his ship. All parts are recommended for level 51. The chain starts with a rendezvous with the Defiant in Krythos, and warp to complete is 100, 50 and 100. Part 1 includes a choice between paying for access and intimidating the Arkonians.

The Trap at a glance

The Trap Part 2 51 50 3,750 Solo Outpost Credits
The Trap Part 3 51 100 300 Sisko Skill Points

Every part is picked up at warp 1, and finishing one part opens the next.

The Trap Part 1

Building the trap starts with the Defiant in Krythos and a trip to the first deployment site in Lynch 9, where the Arkonians control access to the sector.

  • Rendezvous with the Defiant in Krythos.
  • Find the first deployment site, in the Lynch 9 system.

Warp to complete: 100. In Lynch 9 you choose how to deal with the Arkonians. Diplomacy costs resources, intimidation costs a fight, and both paths end with the first coil deployed. The base rewards match; only the last reward line differs.

Diplomacy

  • Pay 35K 5★ Raw Crystal for access to the sector.
  • Deploy the first transwarp coil structure, in the Lynch 9 system.

Rewards for this path: 375 Common Outpost Control Core, 150 Solo Outpost Strike Directive, 1,250 Outpost Retaliation Medal, 2,500 Common Solo Outpost Components, 750 Epic Solo Outpost Components, 7,650 × 100K Tritanium Token.

Intimidation

  • Intimidate the Arkonians, in the Lynch 9 system (enemy strength ~17,249,879).
  • Discuss terms of surrender, in the Lynch 9 system.
  • Deploy the first transwarp coil structure, in the Lynch 9 system.

Rewards for this path: 375 Common Outpost Control Core, 150 Solo Outpost Strike Directive, 1,250 Outpost Retaliation Medal, 2,500 Common Solo Outpost Components, 750 Epic Solo Outpost Components, 153 × 1M Dilithium Token.

The Trap Part 2

Part 2 finishes the snare. After a second coil in Vejvoda 9, the final site in Romero 9 is guarded by Cardassians and Gul Terket himself.

  • Deploy another transwarp coil structure, in the Vejvoda 9 system.
  • Travel to the final deployment site, in the Romero 9 system.
  • Defend yourself from the Cardassians, in the Romero 9 system (enemy strength ~17,882,135).
  • Clear the way to Gul Terket, in the Romero 9 system (enemy strength ~17,249,879).
  • Disable Gul Terket’s ship, in the Romero 9 system (enemy strength ~17,647,953).
  • Deploy the final transwarp coil structure, in the Romero 9 system.

Warp to complete: 50. Rewards: 200 Rare Outpost Control Core, 150 Elite Solo Outpost Strike Directive, 300 Retaliation Plunder, 3,750 Solo Outpost Credits, 1,875 Uncommon Solo Outpost Components.

The Trap Part 3

With the snare ready, you report back to the Borg Queen in Krythos and then lure the Hierarch to Valjavec 9 to take him down.

  • Report back to the Borg Queen, in the Krythos system.
  • Lure the Hierarch to Valjavec 9.
  • Defeat 15 hostiles of Level 35 or higher.
  • Disable the Hierarch’s ship, in the Valjavec 9 system (enemy strength ~17,249,879).
  • Return to Deep Space Nine, in the Bajor system.
  • Return to your Station.

Warp to complete: 100. Rewards: 300 Sisko Skill Points, 100 Sigma Commander Credits, 3,750 Elite Solo Outpost Credits, 1,000 Rare Solo Outpost Components, 120,000 Material Fragments.

Tips for completing The Trap

Choose the Part 1 path by what you have in the bank. Diplomacy asks for 35K 5★ Raw Crystal and pays 7,650 × 100K Tritanium Token. Intimidation adds a fight against the Arkonians (about 17.2 million strength) and pays 153 × 1M Dilithium Token instead.

Part 2 is the hardest stretch. Romero 9 holds three fights in a row: the Cardassians (about 17.9 million), the escort clearing the way to Gul Terket (about 17.2 million) and Gul Terket’s ship (about 17.6 million). Repair before you travel from Vejvoda 9 to Romero 9.

Part 3 asks for 15 hostiles of level 35 or higher in Valjavec 9 before the Hierarch’s ship appears. The lower level bar makes this a quick sweep for a level 51 player.

Are the The Trap rewards worth it?

For outpost progress and Sisko, it pays well. The finale gives 300 Sisko Skill Points, 100 Sigma Commander Credits and 120,000 Material Fragments, and the earlier parts add Outpost Control Cores, Solo Outpost Strike Directives, Solo Outpost Credits, components in four grades and 300 Retaliation Plunder. Part 1 also adds either Tritanium or Dilithium tokens. The effort is five named fights at most and no big donations. Other chains are listed in the STFC mission guide.
