The Deserter is a level 66 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, picked up in Nu’pogo, that pays Klingon reputation. A Klingon businessman named Turog hires you to drive a deserter called Qarish off a Dilithium mining field in Tor’Lenok, and you decide which of them to back. It needs warp 1300 to start and to complete and pays 1,163,000 of a raw Σ-resource and 2,835,000,000 Dilithium on either path. The two paths differ in effort more than reward.
The Deserter objectives
Three steps come before the split:
- Set a course for Tor’Lenok. Location: Tor’Lenok.
- Confront Qarish. Location: Tor’Lenok.
- What should we do? (choice split)
Turog says he has every authorization for the unclaimed field and that Qarish is a disgraced warrior sentenced to exile. Qarish’s side of the story is that he mines the field so local people can get Dilithium at a fair price, while men like Turog want to control the supply and charge what they like.

- Return to Nu’pogo. Location: Nu’pogo.

Side with Qarish
- Bring Turog back to Nu’pogo. Location: Nu’pogo.
- Return to Tor’Lenok. Location: Tor’Lenok.
- Defeat 10 hostiles of level 65 or higher.
- Donate 100M Parsteel to help with repairs.

Back Turog and Qarish fights you; his ship is listed at about 7.5 billion strength. On the way home, Turog lets slip that he never had the authorizations and used you to remove his last obstacle. Back Qarish and you drop Turog off unpaid, then return to help Qarish and the traders who depend on him hold off the ten ships Turog sends. After the fight, you donate 100M Parsteel for repairs, and Qarish explains why he left the Empire.

The Deserter is picked up in Nu’pogo, and the work is in Tor’Lenok. Both the start and the finish need warp 1300, and the recommended level is 66.

Tips
Siding with Turog is quicker: one fight at about 7.5 billion strength and a trip home. Siding with Qarish costs 100M Parsteel and a 10-hostile hunt, and it is the only way to get Σ-Tritanium from this mission.
