Smokescreen is a short Star Trek Fleet Command story mission with one goal: search for Dalen. It opens at warp 1, needs warp 18 to complete, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. You investigate Dalen’s disappearance in Pasadoran, defeat a colonist ship there at roughly 293,839 strength, then ask Starfleet about Dalen in Pareleon. The reward is 150 Premium Recruit Tokens, and finishing it unlocks Ignorance. Note that the game has two missions called Smokescreen; this page covers the one about Dalen.

Smokescreen objectives

There are three objectives and no choice split:

  • Investigate Dalen’s disappearance. Location: Pasadoran.
  • Defeat the colonist ship. Location: Pasadoran. Enemy strength is roughly 293,839.
  • Ask Starfleet about Dalen. Location: Pareleon.

The search starts in Pasadoran, where Dalen went missing. A colonist ship there has to be defeated, and it is the only fight in the mission.

Once it is beaten, you take the question to Starfleet in Pareleon. That conversation ends the mission, with no return-to-station step.

Where and what warp

Smokescreen becomes available at warp 1 and no pickup system is named. Completing it takes warp 18, which covers Pasadoran and Pareleon.

The recommended level is 1. The colonist ship at around 293,839 strength is the step that decides whether your ship is ready.

Smokescreen rewards

The mission pays 150 Premium Recruit Tokens. Completing it also unlocks the next mission, Ignorance.

Smokescreen and The Cost of Obsession

Smokescreen follows The Cost of Obsession, where you search for new Borg technology. Both missions start in Pasadoran and finish at warp 18:

Mission Warp to complete Fights Rewards
The Cost of Obsession 18 10 hostiles of level 26 or higher, then optionally the colony leader at about 296,419 75,000 Dilithium if you attack the colony, or 182,000 Officer XP if you do not
Smokescreen 18 Colonist ship in Pasadoran, about 293,839 150 Premium Recruit Token

The Cost of Obsession ends with a choice about attacking the colony. Whichever way you went, Smokescreen brings you back to Pasadoran, and its colonist ship is close in strength to the colony leader from the attack path.

The other Smokescreen

A second mission with the same name, Smokescreen, asks you to uncover the identity of the peace summit bomber. It is a very different mission, with three fights above 7 million strength in Rainsford, and it pays Dilithium instead of recruit tokens. If your mission log mentions the Hijacked USS Mayflower, that is the one you are on.

Tips

Bring a combat ship that can handle close to 300,000 strength. The colonist ship is the only obstacle, and everything else is travel.

The 150 Premium Recruit Tokens are the whole payout, so this mission is mainly worth it for recruiting. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
