Sitting Ducks is a Star Trek Fleet Command story mission with a short brief: gather more Crucibles. It opens at warp 1 and needs warp 80 to complete, and its one named system is Fect. Between finding the Crucibles and attaching one to your ship, you defeat 10 hostiles of level 39 or higher. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but warp 80 and those hostiles are the real bar. The reward is 4,725,000 Tritanium and six 3 Hour Repair Speed Ups, and finishing it unlocks The Lion’s Den.

Sitting Ducks objectives

There are four objectives and no choice split:

  • Find more Crucibles. Location: Fect.
  • Defeat 10 hostiles of Level 39 or higher.
  • Attach the Crucible to your ship. Location: Fect.
  • Return to Your Station.

The mission starts in Fect, where you locate the Crucibles. Before you can take one, the mission asks for 10 kills against hostiles of level 39 or above. No system is named for those kills, so any qualifying hostiles within range count.

With the kills done, you attach the Crucible to your ship in Fect, then return to your station to close the mission. There is no named boss, so the hostile grind is the main effort.

Where and what warp

Sitting Ducks becomes available at warp 1 and no pickup system is named. Completing it takes warp 80, the range needed for Fect.

The recommended level is 1. In practice you need a ship that can reach warp 80 and clear level 39 hostiles reliably.

Sitting Ducks rewards

Reward Amount
Tritanium 4,725,000
3 Hour Repair Speed Up 6

Completing the mission also unlocks The Lion’s Den.

Sitting Ducks and The Lion’s Den compared

Sitting Ducks follows Uncommon Tongue, and the Crucible hunt carries on in The Lion’s Den, where you retrieve Crucibles from Klingon territory. Current game data:

Mission Warp to complete Fights Rewards
Sitting Ducks 80 10 hostiles of level 39 or higher 4,725,000 Tritanium, 6 3 Hour Repair Speed Up
The Lion’s Den 65 20 hostiles of level 39 or higher, then a Klingon Officer in Zlim’kach at about 902,683 800 4★ Common Battleship Parts, 800 4★ Common Explorer Parts

The two missions follow the same pattern: find the Crucibles, grind hostiles of level 39 or higher, attach a Crucible and go home. The Lion’s Den doubles the kill count and adds a named Klingon Officer, but its warp requirement drops to 65.

Tips

Pick easy targets for the kill count. The objective only asks for level 39 or higher, so there is no benefit in chasing stronger hostiles than you need.

Use the repair speed ups on the next mission. The Lion’s Den asks for 20 more kills plus a fight at around 902,683 strength, and six 3 Hour Repair Speed Ups give you 18 hours of repair time to spread across that grind.

The 4,725,000 Tritanium is a solid top-up for upgrades at the stage where warp 80 is comfortable. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
