Silver Screen is a two-part mission chain in Star Trek Fleet Command built around your first Holodeck. It runs at recommended level 17 and picks up after When One Door Closes Part 5, so you accept it through the story rather than by scanning for it in a system. Part 1 stays at your home station while you build and test the Holodeck. Part 2 sends you out to warp 13 and into a fight at a Swarm system. Finish both and you collect 15 Reginald Barclay shards along with Tritanium, Dilithium, and a stack of speedups. It is a short, low-level chain worth running as soon as it opens up.

Silver Screen at a glance

Part Recommended level Warp to complete Key reward
Silver Screen Part 1 17 1 7 Reginald Barclay shards
Silver Screen Part 2 17 13 8 Reginald Barclay shards

The two parts share the same recommended level, so the difficulty gap is about distance and combat rather than power. Part 1 is a station errand at warp 1. Part 2 is the one you plan around, with a warp 13 trip and a boss fight at the end.

Silver Screen Part 1

This part teaches you to build and run your own Holodeck. The Holodeck is a permanent station building, not a one-off mission prop, so it stays on your base after Silver Screen ends. Once it is up you use it to run Archives, short activities that pay out rewards, and you can keep coming back to it later. Everything in Part 1 happens at or near your home system, so warp never becomes a concern.

  • Pick up Barclay (a nearby system).
  • Return to your station (your home system).
  • Build the Holodeck.
  • Leave your station.
  • Complete 2 Archives from the Holodeck.

Warp to complete: 1. Rewards: 7 Reginald Barclay shards, 10,000 Tritanium, and 12 8-Hour Speed Ups. Completing Part 1 unlocks Part 2, so there is no separate progression reward to chase here.

Silver Screen Part 2

Now you track down the source of the malfunction inside the simulation. This part pushes you out to warp 13 and adds combat, which makes it the harder half of the chain. The route runs through Altamid, a system deep in Swarm territory, and ends with a named ship you have to beat. The Swarm are the insectoid hostiles you clear on the way to the boss, and they come in at level 16 and up, right around your own level for this chain.

  • Enter the simulation.
  • Go to a Swarm system (Altamid).
  • Defeat 10 hostiles of level 16 or higher.
  • Defeat the USS Enterprise in Altamid (enemy power around 16,382).
  • Return to your station.

Warp to complete: 13. Rewards: 8 Reginald Barclay shards, 5,000 Dilithium, and 20 30-Minute Repair Speed Ups. Together with Part 1, that brings the chain to 15 Barclay shards.

Tips for completing Silver Screen

Silver Screen belongs to the Strange New Worlds arc and unlocks after you finish When One Door Closes Part 5, so it will not appear as an accept-in-system quest. Check your active missions once you clear that earlier chain and Silver Screen should be waiting. The officer you are earning, Reginald Barclay, is the Starfleet engineer known in the shows for his Holodeck time, which is why he headlines a chain about building your first one. Fifteen shards is a meaningful chunk toward promoting him, so it is worth finishing both parts in one sitting rather than leaving Part 2 on the shelf.

Part 1 looks like a quick errand, but the Holodeck build takes a construction slot and resources. Clear a slot and have the materials ready before you start so you are not stalled halfway through the objectives. The two Archives run from the Holodeck itself once it is built, so you finish the whole part without leaving home.

Part 2 is where the effort lands. The warp 13 hop to Altamid is the only long trip in the chain, and the system is full of Swarm hostiles at level 16 and up. Bring a ship and crew that can clear enemies near your own level, then handle the roughly 16,000-power USS Enterprise waiting at the same system. Repair to full and top off your resources before you warp out, since the trip and the fights can chew through a hull that was already worn down. The 30-Minute Repair Speed Ups from this part help you turn the ship around fast if the boss fight goes long.

If your operations level is a little above 17 by the time this unlocks, that headroom only helps. A few extra levels of ship and crew power make the ten Swarm kills and the Enterprise fight go faster without changing anything about the objectives. Once the chain wraps, the story continues into the Captain Quark mission, so treat Silver Screen as a stepping stone rather than a dead end.

Are the Silver Screen rewards worth it?

Across both parts you earn 15 Reginald Barclay shards plus 10,000 Tritanium, 5,000 Dilithium, and a healthy pile of speedups. For a level 17 chain with only one long warp and a single real fight at the end, that is a strong return on your time, especially if you are collecting Barclay or want the Holodeck online. There is no reason to sit on it. Run Silver Screen as soon as it unlocks and bank the shards.
