Romulan Republic Cruiser

The Romulan Republic Cruiser is a Mirror Universe hostile in Star Trek Fleet Command. It spawns as an Explorer, only at level 48, in five Mirror systems at warp 150, and its kills can pay out Raw Trellium-A and Raw Trellium-D. Bring a Battleship to counter its Explorer hull, and plan for a fast fight: it hull-breaches your ship the moment combat starts and hits harder for as long as the breach holds.

How to beat the Romulan Republic Cruiser

The Cruiser only appears as an Explorer, so bring a Battleship. It also only appears at one level, so there is no variant to swap against and no level ladder to climb: the same ship that beats one Romulan Republic Cruiser beats them all. What you should respect is its size. At level 48 it carries over 158 million total strength and more than 183 million hull HP, so undersized ships will not scratch it.

Its ability stack is the real danger. Deadlock applies a hull breach to your ship at the start of combat and keeps it there for the duration. That breach feeds a paired ability: Dismantlement raises the Cruiser’s weapon damage by 20% for a round whenever the enemy is hull breached at the start of the round, and Photophobia raises its Isolytic Damage by 10% under the same condition. Because Deadlock never lets the breach drop, both boosts stay active from round one to the end. Every extra round costs you more than the last, so favor a quick kill over a war of attrition and budget for hull repairs afterward.

For crew, the standard hostile-grinding principle applies: a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, plus officers that add damage or keep your ship alive. Level 48 is well past the cadet-crew stage, so field your strongest hostile hunters. The officer tier list has current picks; crews shift as the meta changes.

Where to find the Romulan Republic Cruiser

The Cruiser spawns only in Mirror Universe space, in a tight cluster of five warp 150 systems. Mirror D’Deridex carries an Extract tag in the game data.

Level Warp Systems
48 150 Mirror Belak, Mirror Beta Paldorios, Mirror D’Deridex (Extract), Mirror Unroth, Mirror Vendor

Rewards and what it drops

The recorded drops are small batches of raw Trellium: 8 Raw Trellium-D and 5 Raw Trellium-A per drop in the game data. Treat these as a bonus rather than a farm you can bank on. Each kill also grants 2,501 ship XP, a respectable rate for a single-level target you can chain-kill inside one small cluster of systems.

Drop What it is
Raw Trellium-A A Mirror Universe raw resource. Refine it to spend on Mirror Universe progression.
Raw Trellium-D Another Mirror Universe raw resource with the same job: refine it and feed it into Mirror Universe progression.

Romulan Republic Cruiser stats

The Cruiser has a single recorded tier, so there is no level scaling to plan around; the row below is the fight you get every time.

Level Total strength Hull HP Shield HP Attack Defense Ship XP
48 158,651,191 183,366,382 122,244,255 3,954,343 1,891,530 2,501

Romulan Republic Cruiser firing pattern

The Cruiser mounts four weapons, two Energy and two Kinetic, and all four fire every round with no warm-up gap after round one. The Energy pair does the heavy lifting, with a per-shot ceiling of roughly five times the Kinetic pair’s, and the breach-fed damage boost inflates everything from the opening exchange. There are no off-rounds to recover in, so time your mitigation for a steady stream rather than a burst.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 2 278,823–757,672 Every round 10% (1.5x)
Kinetic 2 139,411–151,534 Every round 10% (1.5x)

The Romulan Republic in Star Trek

The Romulans debuted in the Original Series episode “Balance of Terror” as an offshoot of the Vulcans who rejected logic for passion and empire. Canon knows them through the Romulan Star Empire: secretive, ruled from Romulus, and famous for cloaking devices and the Tal Shiar intelligence service. The Mirror Universe, introduced in “Mirror, Mirror,” reimagines familiar powers as darker or stranger versions of themselves, and Star Trek Fleet Command’s Mirror arc does the same with the Romulans: the Romulan Republic hostiles fly for an alternate-universe Romulan state, distinct from the Star Empire players know from the shows.

Is the Romulan Republic Cruiser worth grinding?

As a targeted grind, it is a modest one. The Trellium payouts are small, so the Cruiser makes more sense as a ship XP source or as a target you clear while working through Mirror Universe content in its five systems. The practical tips: you need warp 150 to reach it, a Battleship to counter its Explorer hull, and enough burst to end the fight before Deadlock’s permanent breach turns the damage math against you.
