Phantom Pain is a level 67 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command and part of the Cult Eternus storyline. With Maia taken by the Cult in Unforseen, Data and Geordi come up with a way to find her through a backup copy she left on your station. The one objective is to upgrade R&D to level 67. It needs warp 1 to start and to complete and pays 19,000 Σ-Parsteel and five 3 Day Speed Ups.
Phantom Pain objectives
There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade R&D to level 67.
Toryn cannot find Maia’s signal, and Picard warns that the Cult’s capacity for chaos will grow with her abilities. Data explains that Maia projects a hologram, which needs power, and Geordi adds that her power source is unusual: a miniature twin ion reactor running on ionized dilithium and dark matter. If they can isolate that signature, the Enterprise can track her.
Toryn points out that the Cult has probably switched her off. Data’s answer is a backup personality routine that Maia likely stored in your Operations building, which keeps a link to the original. With access to your R&D building, Data thinks he can find it and trigger a remote reactivation. Geordi just needs more power, so you upgrade R&D.
Where and what warp
Nothing happens in space. There is no pickup system, and both the start and the finish are at warp 1. The recommended level is 67, matching the R&D level required.

Tips
The five 3 Day Speed Ups add up to 15 days of speed up time. Used on the R&D upgrade itself they will not help this mission, since they arrive after it, but they can shorten the research that If Only You Knew asks for next.
The payout drops sharply here compared with the level 66 missions, which paid Dilithium in the hundreds of millions. This one pays processed Σ-Parsteel instead of raw, and in far smaller amounts; the Σ resources guide explains the difference.
