Painstik in the Mud is a level 68 Klingon mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, picked up in Dantak-6. Utsel asks you to guard the Kot’baval celebrations on Kronos from the Followers of Molor, led by the traitor Gukan. It needs warp 1500 to start and to complete, includes three ship fights in a row, and pays 252,000 6★ Raw Crystal, 210 8 Hour Speed Ups and Klingon reputation. The speed ups make it one of the better Klingon missions at this level.
Painstik in the Mud objectives
There are five objectives and no choice split. All of them take place at Kronos:
- Patrol Kronos. Location: Kronos.
- Defeat the first Molor loyalist. Location: Kronos.
- Defeat the second Molor loyalist. Location: Kronos.
- Apprehend Gukan. Location: Kronos.
- Join the Kot’baval celebrations on Kronos. Location: Kronos.
Kot’baval is the festival that marks the victory of Kahless over the tyrant Molor, and Utsel believes Gukan timed his attempt on the house to spoil it. You patrol Kronos with Utsel’s fleet until a group of Klingon ships drops out of warp. Gukan refuses to turn back, and the fights begin.
The first loyalist is listed at about 11.3 billion strength and the second at about 11 billion. The second ship tries to flank you right after the first goes down. Gukan’s own vessel, at about 11.3 billion, is the third fight. Utsel asks you to beam Gukan aboard rather than destroy him, and the mission ends with Gukan in your brig and a return to the celebrations.
Where and what warp
The mission is picked up in Dantak-6, but every objective is at Kronos. Both the start and the finish need warp 1500. The recommended level is 68.
The three fights come back to back in one system, so arrive at full health.

Tips
The 210 8 Hour Speed Ups add up to 1,680 hours, or 70 days, of speed up time. That is the reason to run this one even if you do not need the Crystal.
Plan for three fights in a row against ships between 11 and 11.3 billion strength. A ship that only just beats one of them will struggle to finish the set, so bring your strongest combat hull.
The reputation swing is the same as the other Dantak-6 missions: 202 million Klingon Points gained, about 165 million Federation Points and 440 million Romulan Points lost.
