Mindwave Modulator

Mindwave Modulator is a five-part mission chain that starts when Byr calls for help from his lab in Tejat. With Dajash and Garak, you trace stolen footage to Deep Space 9, infiltrate a scientific conference on Cardassia Prime to recover a stolen prototype, and finally bring Byr home. Every part is recommended for level 30, and warp to complete is 22 for Part 1 and 25 for the rest. The chain pays 5,872,000 Parsteel, 1,003,000 Tritanium, 196,000 Dilithium, 88,000 Officer XP and 700 Latinum. Two costly steps, a 200K Dilithium decryption and a 6M Parsteel entry fee, are what you need to plan around.

Tips for completing Mindwave Modulator

The 6M Parsteel entry fee in Part 3 is more than Parts 1 and 2 pay out together (5,872,000 Parsteel), so you need some Parsteel of your own on top of the rewards. Keep the Part 1 and Part 2 Parsteel rather than spending it on upgrades if you want to move straight through.

Part 2 asks for 200K Dilithium before its only fight. The chain returns 196,000 Dilithium in Parts 3 and 5, so over the whole run you roughly break even on Dilithium.

Only two named ship fights appear, an Independent vessel at about 356,000 strength and your pursuer at about 344,000. The real grind is the 30 hostiles of level 30 or higher split across Parts 1, 4 and 5.

Are the Mindwave Modulator rewards worth it?

Mostly as a resource swap. You spend 6M Parsteel and 200K Dilithium and get back 5,872,000 Parsteel, 1,003,000 Tritanium, 196,000 Dilithium, 88,000 Officer XP, 700 Latinum and 650 Premium and Federation recruit tokens. The net gain is the Tritanium and the XP. The story features Byr, Dajash and Garak, though none of their shards are rewards here. For other level 30 chains, see the STFC mission guide.
