Lost in Translation

Lost in Translation is a Swarm storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you test whether Maia can interact with the Swarm. The recommended level is 1, it can be picked up at warp 1, and it needs warp 22 to complete. Everything happens in Alpha Horunia: you investigate a scattered Swarm signal, connect Maia to a Swarm computer, decide whether to grant the Swarm access to your ship, fight, and donate 8,000 Frequency Modulators. Both paths pay 5 Jaylah shards.

Lost in Translation objectives

The shared part of the mission has three objectives:

  • Investigate the scattered Swarm signal on Alpha Horunia. Location: Alpha Horunia.
  • Attempt to connect Maia to the Swarm Computer. Location: Alpha Horunia.
  • Should we grant the Swarm access to the ship’s computer?

The third step is a choice split. In the mission dialogue, the first option lets the Swarm integrate with your systems and the second refuses. Either way, the Swarm ships turn on you, and both paths run the same three objectives:

  • Destroy the Swarm ships. Location: Alpha Horunia. Enemy strength is roughly 577,187.
  • Bring 8,000 Frequency Modulators to your Station.
  • Donate 8000 Frequency Modulators.

Grant the Swarm access

Rewards: 5 Jaylah shards, 951,000 Parsteel, 11 3 Hour Speed Up.

Refuse the Swarm

Rewards: 5 Jaylah shards, 140,000 Tritanium, 22 15 Minute Repair Speed Up.

Where and what warp

Lost in Translation needs warp 1 to start and warp 22 to complete. Alpha Horunia is the only system named, and the Frequency Modulator steps happen at your station. The recommended level is 1, but the Swarm fight at around 577,187 strength is the better guide to what you need.

Lost in Translation rewards

Reward Grant access Refuse
Jaylah shards 5 5
Parsteel 951,000 none
3 Hour Speed Up 11 none
Tritanium none 140,000
15 Minute Repair Speed Up none 22

Completing either path unlocks the next mission, I See Clearly.

Where it sits in the Swarm storyline

Mission Warp to complete Frequency Modulators Rewards
Spirals in the Sky 22 6,000 200 Swarm Biominerals, 160 3★ Explorer Parts
Lost in Translation 22 8,000 5 Jaylah shards plus Parsteel and speed ups, or Tritanium and repair speed ups
I See Clearly 22 none 225 Premium Recruit Token and 72,000 Officer XP, or 77,000 Dilithium

Spirals in the Sky, the mission before, has you destroy the Swarm nest on Ortek III. Lost in Translation follows up on what that did to the Swarm’s signals. I See Clearly then tracks down a Tal Shiar agent who was hunting Jaylah, and it needs no Frequency Modulators at all.

Tips

Stockpile 8,000 Frequency Modulators before you reach the choice. The mission’s own description says they come from defeating Swarm hostiles, and the donation is the same on both paths.

Bring a combat ship for Alpha Horunia. Granting access does not avoid the fight; the Swarm ships attack on both paths at around 577,187 strength.

Choose by reward. The Jaylah shards are the same either way. Granting access pays 951,000 Parsteel and eleven 3 Hour Speed Ups; refusing pays 140,000 Tritanium and 22 repair speed ups. For more on the storyline, see the Swarm missions page.
