The KSG Fighter is a Klingon faction hostile that spawns at levels 50 to 60 in high-level Klingon space. It appears only as an Interceptor, so a Battleship is the ship to bring. Every kill pays 5-star Broken Interceptor Parts and raises your Federation and Romulan reputation at the cost of Klingon standing. Its Pen of Kahless ability stacks piercing and accuracy for the first five rounds, so expect the opening of each fight to hit hardest.

How to beat the KSG Fighter

This hostile only appears as an Interceptor, so bring a Battleship. There is no variant to swap against between levels; the same counter works from 50 through 60. A leveled Battleship with hostile-hunting research behind it will clear these with shorter repair timers than any other class.

For crew, run a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles and fill the remaining seats with officers that add damage or mitigation. The right names at these levels depend on which officers you own and have promoted, so check the officer tier list for current hostile-hunting crews. Crews shift as the game updates, so treat any named lineup as a starting point rather than a rule.

Watch for its ship ability, Pen of Kahless. For the first five rounds of combat it raises the fighter’s shield piercing, armor piercing, and accuracy, and the bonus grows with level: 25% at 50–52, 50% at 53–55, and 75% at 56–60. Piercing bypasses your mitigation, which means those early shots land almost at full force. If a quick kill is out of reach, build for survivability through the opening rounds; once the buff expires, the fight gets noticeably easier.

Where to find the KSG Fighter

The fighter clusters in Klingon space and moves deeper as its level climbs. The level 50 to 53 spawns sit in warp 185 systems like Ariadexa, Lycrus, and ghuH. The mid-band (54 to 57) spreads across warp 230 to 285 systems such as Magnamia, Morthion, and Veldoran, while the level 58 to 60 versions retreat to warp 320 and beyond, ending in Astertna, Atlhe, Kytheris, and Ovelya at warp 440. Match your warp range to the level your Battleship can actually beat before you set out.

Rewards and what it drops

Every kill pays out 5-star Broken Interceptor Parts plus faction reputation, and the amounts scale with level: parts range from 122 per kill at the low end to 1,926 at the top. Mind the direction of that reputation, though. Destroying these Klingon ships raises your Federation and Romulan standing but lowers your Klingon standing, up to 164,400 points lost per kill at the high end. Grind it when you can afford the hit to Klingon reputation, not while you are trying to raise it. Ship XP scales well too, from 3,000 at level 50 to nearly 12,000 at level 60.

Drop What it is
5★ Broken Interceptor Parts Late-game salvage material, 122–1,926 per kill depending on level
Federation Points Federation reputation gain, +12,000 to +87,680 per kill
Romulan Points Romulan reputation gain, +6,000 to +43,840 per kill
Klingon Points Klingon reputation loss, up to -164,400 per kill

KSG Fighter stats

Stats climb steeply across the level range; a level 60 fighter is more than twenty times stronger than a level 50.

60 405,235,633 229,972,567 229,972,567 107,640,706 67,622,360 11,904

KSG Fighter firing pattern

The fighter carries a single energy weapon that fires every round and a bank of three kinetic weapons that fire every other round. The energy gun is the light, steady jab; the kinetic bank is the real threat, landing three shots that each hit more than twice as hard as the energy weapon. That makes every other round a spike round, and the spikes stack with the Pen of Kahless piercing buff during the first five rounds. All four weapons crit 10% of the time at 1.8x damage. Time your mitigation and officer abilities around the kinetic volleys, and expect the worst of the damage early.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 1 200,312–244,825 Every round 10% (1.8x)
Kinetic 3 480,748–587,586 Every other round 10% (1.8x)

The Klingons in Star Trek

The Klingon Empire has been part of Star Trek since 1967, first as a Cold War stand-in for the Federation to spar with, later as one of the franchise’s most fully drawn cultures. Klingon society runs on honor: great houses feud over it, warriors duel over it, and the afterlife in Sto-vo-kor is reserved for those who die well. Their ships match the culture, built for attack over comfort, from the Bird-of-Prey to the massive Negh’Var. The uneasy peace of the Khitomer Accords made allies of old enemies without ever making the Empire less dangerous.

Is the KSG Fighter worth grinding?

Yes, if you can afford the Klingon reputation loss. For players pushing Federation or Romulan standing, it pays both at once while stocking 5-star Broken Interceptor Parts and solid ship XP. Pick the highest level your Battleship clears without long repair timers, match the warp ranges in the table above, and skip this grind entirely if your Klingon rep still needs to go up.
