Guarding Angel is a single-part mission, listed in the game as Guarding Angel Part 1, that explains what Isolytic damage is and how to acquire it. You reach Installation Alpha in System J-25, find a Progenitor Archive in Alhazar, pay to analyze a spatial disturbance and defeat a Romulan spy. It is recommended for level 26 and needs warp 25 to complete. The rewards are 35,000 Dilithium, 200 2★ Explorer Parts and a 15 Hour Repair Speed Up. Finishing it unlocks Guardian Angel Part 2 (the game spells the follow-up differently), which pays a Kathryn Janeway shard.

Guarding Angel Part 1
The mission is an introduction to Isolytic damage. Starting at Installation Alpha, you follow the trail to a Progenitor Archive in Alhazar, fund an analysis of the spatial disturbance there and deal with a Romulan spy before heading home.
- Reach the Installation Alpha in System J-25.
- Find the Progenitor Archive in Alhazar.
- Donate 50K Dilithium to analyze the spatial disturbance.
- Defeat a Romulan spy in Alhazar (enemy strength ~53,959).
- Return to station.
Warp to complete: 25. Rewards: 35,000 Dilithium, 200 2★ Explorer Parts and 1 15 Hour Repair Speed Up.
After Guarding Angel: Guardian Angel Part 2
The next mission shows Isolytic damage in practice. It keeps the same level 26 and warp 25 and returns to System J-25 before a fight in Uxal.
- Report to B’Elanna Torres in System J-25.
- Find the artifact hunter Hirogen ship in Uxal.
- Defeat the Hirogen in Uxal (enemy strength ~55,452).
- Return to the Installation Alpha, in System J-25.
Its rewards are 1 Kathryn Janeway shard, 72,000 Tritanium, 485,000 Parsteel and 500 Premium Recruit Token.
Tips for completing Guarding Angel
Have 50K Dilithium ready before you reach Alhazar, because the donation comes before the fight and the mission cannot move on without it. You get 35,000 back as a reward, so the net cost is 15,000 Dilithium.
The Romulan spy sits at about 54,000 strength. The Hirogen in the follow-up is slightly stronger at about 55,500, so if the spy fight was close, upgrade or repair before moving on. The 15 Hour Repair Speed Up from this mission is useful here if your ship comes out of the spy fight badly damaged.
Are the Guarding Angel rewards worth it?
On its own, the payout is small: most of the Dilithium you donate comes back, plus 200 2★ Explorer Parts and a repair speed-up. The real reason to run it is the unlock.
