Friends In Low Places I

Friends In Low Places I is a level 55 Klingon Science Group (KSG) mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. A KSG scientist named Eshon sends you into Outlaw space to trade favours with a gang in exchange for funding, and it ends with a choice between the Outlaws and the Exchange. It is picked up in Pnema-438 and needs warp 320 to start and to complete. Siding with the Exchange pays 26,250,000 Dilithium, 500 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups and a KSG Datapad; siding with the Outlaws pays only the KSG Datapad and reputation. Either way it unlocks Friends In Low Places II.

Friends In Low Places I objectives

Eshon admits the KSG is short of money. Contacts of his could keep it running for at least two more years if someone does them a few favours, and he cannot leave his post. The catch, mentioned last, is that the contacts live in Outlaw space. The gang member you meet, Tremor, says they deal in favours rather than resources, and wants a rival gang leader in Valance dealt with first.

  • Meet with the thief. Location: Tombstone.
  • Find the rival thief. Location: Valance.
  • Defeat the thief. Location: Valance. Enemy strength is roughly 28,524,865.
  • Return to the contact. Location: Tombstone.
  • Who should we side with?

When you report back, Ricard of the Exchange arrives and corners Tremor, who admits to robbing Ricard’s casino eight times. Ricard promises to pay you well for helping bring Tremor in. Tremor reminds you of the deal: get him out of this and the KSG gets what it needs.

The Exchange

  • Defeat Tremor. Location: Tombstone. Enemy strength is roughly 28,969,758.
  • Go to Exchange space. Location: Exchange Alpha.

Tremor escapes, promising this is not over. Ricard is untroubled: he planted a tracking drone on Tremor’s ship and expects it to lead him straight to the gang’s leader.

The Outlaws

  • Defeat Ricard. Location: Tombstone. Enemy strength is roughly 28,969,758.

Ricard escapes, and Tremor lets him go so the Exchange gets the message to stay out of Outlaw space.

Where and what warp

The pickup system is Pnema-438. The mission needs warp 320 to start and warp 320 to complete. Most of it happens in Tombstone and Valance, and the Exchange path ends with a trip to Exchange Alpha. The recommended level is 55.

Friends In Low Places I rewards

Path Rewards
The Exchange 500 15 Minute Repair Speed Up, 26,250,000 Dilithium, 1 KSG Datapad, 1,600 Klingon Credits, 5,000,000 Klingon Points, -9,900,000 Romulan Points
The Outlaws 1 KSG Datapad, 800 Klingon Credits, 2,500,000 Klingon Points, -4,950,000 Romulan Points

The Exchange path has two objectives after the choice, and each pays 800 Klingon Credits, 2,500,000 Klingon Points and costs 4,950,000 Romulan Points, so the table shows the combined totals. Both paths unlock Friends In Low Places II, but not the same version. Siding with the Exchange leads to the version where you help destroy Tremor’s gang; siding with the Outlaws leads to the version where you defend it.

What each choice leads to

Choice here Friends In Low Places II story Fights there Main rewards there
The Exchange Track down and destroy Tremor’s gang Kristoff, Rantell, Tremor 150 15 Hour Speed Up, 21,000,000 Dilithium
The Outlaws Defend Tremor’s gang from an Exchange assault Marcus, Arnold, Ricard 5 1B Parsteel Token, 19,500,000 Dilithium

Both versions of Friends In Low Places II are level 55 and take place in D0D-G.

Tips

The fights on both paths are close in strength: about 28.5 million for the thief in Valance and about 29.0 million for Tremor or Ricard. If you can beat the first, the second is within reach.

For resources, the Exchange is the stronger pick in this part, with the Dilithium and repair speed ups on top of the datapad. It also costs twice the Romulan standing, so weigh that against your Klingon gains. For more, see faction reputation.

Look at both parts together before choosing. Over the two missions, the Exchange route pays 47,250,000 Dilithium plus the speed ups, and the Outlaws route pays 19,500,000 Dilithium plus five 1B Parsteel Tokens. More missions at this level are on the mission guide.
