Federation Devotion is a Galaxy research that amplifies Federation reputation changes while you fly a Federation ship, from 5% at level 1 to 50% at level 10. It unlocks at R&D Department 27. The catch is in the plus-minus: it raises reputation losses as well as gains.
What Federation Devotion does
While you are in a Federation ship, every Federation reputation change is amplified by the listed percentage, in both directions. Grinding positive rep, you climb up to 50% faster. Doing things the Federation dislikes, you fall faster too. It is a loyalty multiplier, not a free bonus.

Unlock requirements
Level 1 needs R&D Department 27 and 75K Federation reputation, with no research prerequisites. Each later level asks for two more R&D Department levels and a higher Federation standing, up to R&D Department 45 and 60M Federation reputation for level 10. The full ladder is in the table above.
Cost and research time
Per-level costs are in the table above. Maxing all 10 levels totals about 1.4K 3★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 647M Dilithium, 200 3★ Rare Refined Gas, 4.5K 4★ Common Refined Gas, 4K 4★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 1.6K 4★ Rare Refined Gas. The base research time adds up to roughly 1.2 yr on paper; research speed bonuses cut real timers to a small fraction of that, so use it to compare levels, not to plan your calendar.
Federation Devotion and Devotion Tokens
Federation Devotion does not use Devotion Tokens. Every level is paid in refined gas and Dilithium, as the table shows, and the only other gates are your R&D Department level and your Federation reputation.
Devotion Tokens are a separate resource that is used in missions. The level 55 mission Devotion asks you to earn 3 of them while you keep earning the loyalty of a fringe faction. There are also S31, KSG and Immortal Devotion Tokens, each named for its faction. None of them are spent in the research tree, so you can chase tokens and this research at the same time without one slowing the other.
Is Federation Devotion worth it?
Yes for players locked into the Federation who grind reputation in Federation hulls; it meaningfully shortens the climb through the locked tiers. Skip it if you juggle faction standings. It pairs naturally with Prime Federation Tribute, and the rest of the branch is on the Galaxy Research guide.
