Recovery Protocol is an early Star Trek Fleet Command mission that sends you after stolen materials and blueprints. It opens around level 4, starts a single warp from your home space, and asks you to destroy three hostile ships of level 3 or higher. Finish it and you collect 5 Dilithium and open the next step in its chain.
Recovery Protocol objectives
The mission carries a single objective, so it moves quickly once your ship is ready for a fight.
- Defeat 3 hostiles of level 3 or higher.
Level 3 hostiles appear in any star system rated level 2 or above, so you do not have to travel far to find targets. Pick a system in that range, look over the hostile ships drifting in it, and attack three that meet the level requirement. There is no branching choice in this mission and no second objective waiting behind the first.
Wo und welcher Warp
Recovery Protocol is built for a young base. The recommended level is 4, and both the warp to reach the mission and the warp to complete it sit at 1. That keeps everything inside or right next to your starting territory. A low warp number means low fuel cost and almost no travel time, so nearly all of the work here goes into the combat rather than the flying. If you have already pushed a system or two past your home base, you likely have a level 2 system close enough to clear all three kills in one trip.
Recovery Protocol rewards
The payout for finishing the mission is 5 Dilithium. Completing it also unlocks the next part of the chain, which continues the recovery story.
Dilithium is one of the game’s premium currencies, and at level 4 every unit of it matters. Players spend Dilithium to speed up builds and research or to cover a shortfall in raw resources, so a small early grant like this one is worth picking up even though the number looks modest. Treat it as a bonus on top of the loot the three hostiles drop when you destroy them.
Tips
The only real hurdle in Recovery Protocol is the combat, and three kills is manageable if you set up first. Before you undock, seat your strongest Offiziere in the captain chair and on the bridge to raise your damage and survivability, and top off your ship’s health at a station or repair dock. Early hulls are fragile, so a quick repair between fights keeps you from losing the ship on the third target.
Check each hostile’s ship type before you commit to an attack. Hostiles come in different hull classes, and matching your ship against the class it beats shortens the fight and cuts the damage you take. Because the targets you need sit in level 2 or higher systems close to home, you can usually scout one nearby system, tag three eligible hostiles, and finish the objective without a long haul. Keep an eye on the level 3 minimum as you pick targets, since a lower-level hostile will not count toward the three you need.
