The Vrax is a grade 5 Rare Romulan Survey ship, and it exists to pull ore. Its Ore Mining Laser raises the ship’s ore mining rate by 420% at ship level 1 and 970% once the ship reaches level 60, which is the whole argument for building one. Construction unlocks at Shipyard level 58. If your account runs on 5-star ore, the Vrax earns back its very long build.
How to get the Vrax
The Vrax needs 350 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 58. Blueprints come from the Romulan faction store, so the ship is a steady grind against faction reputation rather than a lucky event pull.
The build itself is the expensive part. It costs 1,083,642,000,000 Tritanium, 26,255,250,000 Dilithium, 3,905 5-star Common Refined Ore and 2,210 5-star Common Refined Kristall, and it takes 113 days and 8 hours to finish. Plan the Tritanium well before the blueprints finish stacking, because that number is what actually stalls most players.
Vrax ability
Ore Mining Laser increases the ship’s ore mining rate. Ship abilities are always active, so there is nothing to trigger and no cooldown to manage.
The value climbs with ship level rather than tier. It starts at 420% and moves in small steps through the mid levels, reaching 568% at level 30 and 648% at level 40, then jumps to 970% at level 60. That last stretch is where most of the value sits, so a Vrax parked at level 40 is doing well under two thirds of the work a maxed one does. Leveling the hull matters more here than on a combat ship.
Stats and tiers
These are base values from the current game Daten. Research, buffs and Offiziere raise them in play.
| Ebene | Warp (speed / range) | Impulse | Cargo (protected) | Shield HP | Hull HP | Health (displayed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4.2 / 425 | 100 | 4,200,000 (60,000) | 1,300,150 | 1,642,980 | 1,471,565 |
| 6 | 5 / 685 | 100 | 5,937,500 (80,000) | 1,954,091 | 2,469,355 | 2,211,723 |
| 12 | 6 / 975 | 100 | 8,125,000 (95,650) | 3,140,624 | 3,968,759 | 3,554,692 |
Cargo is the stat to watch. Eight million capacity at tier 12 means long uninterrupted mining runs, but only 95,650 of it is protected, so a raid on a full hold still costs you badly. Mining speed also climbs with tier, from 54.06 at tier 1 to 87.89 at tier 6 and 97.02 at tier 12, and warp range reaching 975 opens up the deeper Romulan ore systems.
Weapons and firing pattern
Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires, and cool-down is how many rounds pass between shots after that. A survey ship is not meant to win fights, so read this as what the Vrax can do while it runs, not as a combat plan.
| Waffe | Typ | Shots | Warm-up | Cool-down | Damage | Crit chance | Crit damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Waffe 1 | Energie | 2 | 1 | 1 | 186,778 – 226,961 | 10% | 150% |
One energy weapon firing from the first round with a single round between volleys is enough to clear a weak survey target, and not much more. Anything armed will take the ore off you.
Crew slots and officer bonus
| Ship level | Officer slots |
|---|---|
| 5 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 20 | 3 |
| 30 | 4 |
| 35 | 5 |
| 40 | 6 |
| 45 | 7 |
The Vrax also feeds its own bonus into the officers you crew on it, raising their attack, defense and health. Those three are boosted by the same amount at every step, so one ladder covers all of them.
| Amount | Bonus |
|---|---|
| 1,300 | 30% |
| 2,600 | 60% |
| 4,225 | 90% |
| 5,850 | 120% |
| 7,800 | 150% |
| 10,400 | 180% |
| 14,300 | 210% |
| 19,500 | 240% |
| 26,000 | 270% |
| 39,000 | 300% |
Crew for the Vrax
Crewing a survey ship follows a different logic than crewing a warship. Nothing on the bridge needs to shoot. What you want is faster mining and more of the hold protected when someone jumps you, so every seat should either speed the laser up or keep the cargo safe.
A dependable classic that has made miners work for years: Elea Mäkinen as captain, since her captain maneuver raises the ship’s mining speed outright. Alongside her, Zwei von elf increases the rate of Crystal, Gas and Ore mining, which stacks directly onto what the Vrax already does. Fill the third seat with Drei von elf, whose ability raises protected cargo and covers the Vrax’s weakest number.
That trio is a reliable baseline, not a claim about the current meta. Check the Officer Tier List for what is strong right now, and expect mining crews to shift as new officers arrive.
The Vrax in Star Trek
The Vrax has no screen appearance. It is a design original to Star Trek Fleet Befehl, built to give Romulan players a high-grade miner rather than to reproduce a ship from the shows. Its in-game story fits the Star Trek Romulans well enough: a Romulan freighter hull rebuilt with Föderation components, which is the sort of quiet, practical borrowing the Star Empire has always done when it served them. The Romulans on screen are shown as secretive and resource-hungry, running an empire that expands where the material is. A retrofitted deep-space ore hauler is an unglamorous but believable piece of that machine.
Is the Vrax worth it?
For a Romulan-aligned account sitting at Shipyard 58 and burning through 5-star ore, yes. The 970% ore rate at level 60 is the strongest reason to own one, and mining ships stay useful long after combat hulls of the same grade fall behind. The cost is patience: 350 blueprints from the faction store and a 113 day build. Players who mine other resources more than ore should look elsewhere first.
