Transphasic Torpedoes

Transphasic Torpedoes is an Uncommon Forbidden Tech built for Group Armadas. Its main effect raises your ship’s damage against Group Armadas, climbing from 10% at unlock to 120% at max tier and level, with added pierce, accuracy, and critical damage stacked on top. If you run Group Armadas often, it gives your crew a clean damage boost that is worth leveling.

What Transphasic Torpedoes does

The headline buff increases the damage your ship deals against Group Armadas. It starts at 10% when the piece unlocks and reaches 120% once you take it to tier 6 and level 30. Two support buffs come online at higher tiers and add pierce, accuracy, and critical damage against the same target.

Buff Unlocks at tier Unlock value Max value
Increases Damage against Group Armadas 1 10% 120%
Increases Armor Pierce, Shield Pierce, and Accuracy against Group Armadas 3 2% 30%
Increases Critical Damage against Group Armadas 4 1% 16%

Every one of these bonuses is scoped to Group Armadas, so the piece does nothing in mining runs, PvP, or standard hostile grinding. It is a specialist tool for one activity.

How to get Transphasic Torpedoes

Forbidden Tech is unlocked through the Forbidden Tech Raffinerie rather than dropped from a mission. For an Ungewöhnlich piece like this one, you collect Uncommon Forbidden Fragments and spend them in the refinery to unlock it. Fragments come from Q’s Trials and from special rewards.

To actually slot the torpedoes onto a ship you also need Forbidden Tech Fusion Rods, which open a ship’s Forbidden Tech slots and let you pull a piece back off a ship later. Fusion Rods come from the refinery and the store. Because the unlock and every upgrade run through the same refinery economy, decide which piece you want most before spending fragments, since those materials do not come quickly.

Upgrading Transphasic Torpedoes

Tiers and levels do two different jobs. Tiering up raises the level cap and switches on the later buffs: the pierce and accuracy buff arrives at tier 3, and the critical damage buff at tier 4. Leveling up then scales each active buff toward its max value. You need to do both to reach the full 120% damage figure.

Ebene Level cap Kosten
1 5 Starting tier, no cost
4 20 32 Forbidden Tech Reactor, 1,350 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst
6 30 32 Forbidden Tech Reactor, 750 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst

Reaching tier 6 costs 160 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 4,650 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst in total. Leveling from 2 to 30 costs a further 896 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 38,450 Forbidden Tech Protomatter. Reactors come from Daily Goals and the store, Protomatter from Q’s Trials and the store, and Catalysts from the refinery and the store.

Best ships and uses for Transphasic Torpedoes

Because every buff is locked to Group Armadas, this belongs on whatever ship you bring to a Group Armada, paired with the Offiziere you already run for armada damage. It does nothing outside armada combat, so keep it off your miners, your hostile grinders, and your PvP ships. If you rarely join Group Armadas, your Fusion Rods and refinery materials are better spent elsewhere. For players who run armadas as a regular activity, it is one of the more direct damage upgrades available at Uncommon rarity, and it does not compete with your officer and ship buffs for a slot the way a bridge officer would.

Transphasic Torpedoes in Star Trek

Transphasic torpedoes come from Star Trek: Voyager. In the finale, “Endgame,” a future version of Admiral Kathryn Janeway travels back in time and arms Voyager with technology from her own era, including these torpedoes and ablative hull armor. Their trick is passing straight through Borg shields, which normally adapt to and neutralize conventional weapons. A single transphasic torpedo could cripple or destroy a Borg cube, and Voyager uses them to strike a Borg transwarp hub on the way home. The game’s version keeps that story, treating the weapon as strictly regulated because of the collateral damage it can cause.

Is Transphasic Torpedoes worth it?

If Group Armadas are part of your routine, yes. A 120% damage boost plus pierce, accuracy, and critical damage is a large swing for an Uncommon piece, and it is cheaper to max than higher-rarity tech. If you almost never run Group Armadas, skip it and save your Forbidden Tech materials for a piece that matches how you actually play.
