Berserker Complex is an Epic Forbidden Tech in Star Trek Fleet Command built for one job: Interceptors fighting armadas. Its heaviest buff raises Shield Piercing, Armor Piercing, and Accuracy against armada targets from 100% at unlock to 1,200% at max, and later tiers stack critical damage, critical hit chance, and Isolytic damage on top. If your armada ship is an Interceptor, this is the piece to chase.

What Berserker Complex does

Every buff on this piece reads “Interceptor” and “against Armadas,” so it does nothing on an Explorer, nothing on a Battleship, and nothing outside armada combat. The piercing and accuracy buff is the one that changes fights. Armada targets carry deep armor and shield values, and pushing your shots through them is what turns a slow grind into a clean kill. It unlocks at tier 3, which makes tier 3 the first real milestone.

Buff Unlocks at tier Unlock value Max value
Increases Interceptor Isolytic Damage against Armadas 1 5% 20%
Increases Interceptor Shield Piercing, Armor Piercing, and Accuracy against Armadas 3 100% 1,200%
Increases Interceptor Critical Damage against Armadas 6 50% 350%
Increases Interceptor Critical Hit Chance against Armadas 8 8% 32%

Those values are current as of the latest game data, and each buff scales with the item’s level between its unlock value and its maximum. The tier 6 and tier 8 buffs work together: more critical hits landing for more damage each, on top of shots that already ignore most of the target’s defenses.

How to get Berserker Complex

Forbidden Tech is unlocked in the Forbidden Tech refinery, and an Epic piece like this one needs Epic Forbidden Fragments. Those come from Q’s Trials and from special rewards. You also need Forbidden Tech Fusion Rods, which unlock the Forbidden Tech slots on a ship and let you pull a piece back off later if you want to move it. Fusion Rods come from the refinery and the store.

Plan the slot before you plan the piece. A Forbidden Tech slot sits on a specific ship, so unlocking Berserker Complex without an Interceptor ready to carry it leaves the buffs sitting idle.

Upgrading Berserker Complex

There are two upgrade tracks. Tiering up with Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalysts raises the level cap and switches on the buffs at tiers 3, 6, and 8. Leveling up with Forbidden Tech Protomatter scales the values you already have toward their maximums. Both are attempts rather than purchases: they consume Forbidden Tech Reactors, and Probability Devices raise the chance an upgrade succeeds.

Ebene Level cap Kosten
1 5 Starting tier
7 35 32 Forbidden Tech Reactor, 9,900 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst
12 60 32 Forbidden Tech Reactor, 11,500 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst

Taking the piece all the way to tier 12 costs 352 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 161,550 Forbidden Tech Tier-Up Catalyst in total. Levels 2 through 60 cost a further 1,856 Forbidden Tech Reactor and 1,305,350 Forbidden Tech Protomatter. Catalysts and Protomatter come from the Forbidden Tech refinery, Q’s Trials, and the store; Reactors come from Daily Goals and the store. Tier 3 is the upgrade worth rushing, because it turns a modest Isolytic bonus into the piercing buff that carries the whole piece.

Best ships and uses for Berserker Complex

Slot it on whichever Interceptor you take into armadas. That is the entire use case. It contributes nothing to hostile grinding, mining, station defense, or PvP, and nothing at all on an Explorer or Battleship, so treat it as a dedicated armada piece rather than something you leave on a general-purpose ship.

Interceptors already do well against armada targets that lean on Explorer hulls, and the piercing buff widens that advantage into targets you would otherwise struggle to hurt. Players running solo armadas get the most out of it, since your one ship is doing all the damage and there is no fleet to carry you. In a full armada it still pulls its weight, it just shares the credit.

Berserker Complex in Star Trek

This one is a game original. No episode or film features a device called the Berserker Complex, and the story around it belongs to Star Trek Fleet Command rather than to screen canon. The in-game description places it in the wreckage of a destroyed system at the far edge of the Alpha Quadrant: a component holding a psychotic artificial personality that seizes control of any ship it is plugged into.

The idea has plenty of canon company, though. Star Trek has returned to the hostile machine mind again and again, from the M-5 multitronic unit that fought a live war game with real weapons in “The Ultimate Computer,” to the damaged probe Nomad sterilizing whole populations in “The Changeling,” to the planet killer chewing through star systems in “The Doomsday Machine.” Berserker Complex reads as a small, portable version of the same fear.

Is Berserker Complex worth it?

For an armada Interceptor, yes. The piercing and accuracy numbers at high tiers are large enough to change which armadas you can take on, and the critical buffs that follow compound with them. For anyone who does not run Interceptors in armadas, skip it and put your fragments toward a piece that matches how you actually play. If you do commit, get to tier 3 quickly, then tier 6, then level it as materials allow.
