Shady Business is a level 62 Romulan mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which a Starfleet ship attacks a new Reman settlement in Ja’lana. You pick it up in Ja’lana and need warp 1,000 to start and to finish. There are two fights, a 2,000 Progenitor Alloy bribe, and a report to Romulan leadership in Tir Morta. The reward is 1,128,000,000 Tritanium and 415,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel, plus Romulan Credits and faction points. Have the Progenitor Alloy ready before you start.
Shady Business objectives
A Reman ally greets you as the USS Hermes circles the settlement and fires on it. There are four objectives in order, with no choice split:
- Defend the Remans from the USS Hermes. Location: Ja’lana (enemy strength ~3,391,917,710).
- Bribe Captain Davies with 2,000 Progenitor Alloy.
- Defeat the Suliban vessel. Location: Ja’lana (enemy strength ~3,367,690,171).
- Report back to the Romulan leadership in Tir Morta. Location: Tir Morta.
Once the Hermes is beaten, Captain Davies turns out to care little about Remans or Romulans. He is looking for something to fund a comfortable retirement on Risa, and he offers to erase his logs and keep the colony secret in exchange for 2,000 Progenitor Alloy. Paying him is the second objective.
Right after the deal, a Suliban ship arrives with disruptors firing, apparently hoping to plunder the new settlement. After you drive it off, the Suliban captain backs down, and your officer points out that the Suliban, allies of Romulus, seem unaware of the Reman Initiative. You take that news to Vrellok and the Romulan leadership in Tir Morta, who decide to bring the Suliban and the Corvallen into the loop.

The mission is picked up in Ja’lana and needs warp 1,000 to start and to complete. Both fights happen in Ja’lana, and the only other system is Tir Morta for the hand-in. The recommended level is 62.

Shady Business pays the largest Raw Σ-Parsteel amount of the four and is the only one with a Tritanium payout.
Tips
Check your Progenitor Alloy first. The bribe sits between the two fights, so you cannot reach the Suliban battle until Davies is paid.
Both fights are close in strength, about 3.39 billion for the Hermes and 3.37 billion for the Suliban ship. A ship that wins the opening fight comfortably will usually win the second, and they are in the same system, so there is no travel in between.
The 1.128 billion Tritanium and 415,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel make this a strong resource mission for a level 62 station (see Parsteel).
Watch the reputation cost. Like the other Romulanisch missions here, it adds 114 million Romulan Points but removes about 113 million Klingon and 170 million Federation Points, and those numbers move your Fraktionsruf. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
