Open Wounds is a late story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command’s Progenitor storyline. You investigate a signal at Perralon 472 and have to stop the Alphas, either by disrupting their engine with 1,850,000 Dilithium or by destroying it with a chain reaction that needs 20 level 44 kills. It can be accepted at warp 1 and needs warp 105 to complete, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The Dilithium path pays 4★ Explorer Parts; the kill path pays Parsteel and Tritanium tokens. Either way it unlocks Operations 46.
Open Wounds objectives
The story line asks you to stop the Progenitors from enacting their plan. Everyone starts with the same two steps:
- Investigate the signal. Location: Perralon 472.
- Decide how to stop the Alphas.
If you disrupt the engine with Dilithium
- Release 1,850,000 Dilithium.
- Investigate the engine. Location: Perralon 472.
- Escape from the Alphas.
If you destroy the engine with a chain reaction
- Defeat 20 hostiles of level 44 or higher.
- Investigate the engine. Location: Perralon 472.
- Escape from the Alphas.
The two paths differ only in their first step: a large Dilithium payment, or twenty kills at level 44 or higher. The rest is identical.

The mission can be accepted at warp 1, but Perralon 472 needs warp 105 to finish it. The recommended level is listed as 1. On the Dilithium path the real requirement is 1.85 million Dilithium to spare; on the chain reaction path it is a ship that can beat twenty level 44 hostiles.

Either path unlocks the next mission, Betrieb 46. Neither changes Fraktionsruf.
Choosing a path
If you have Dilithium to spare and want to upgrade an explorer, the Dilithium path is quicker and pays 4★ Explorer Parts, including 27 Rare ones. If you would rather keep your Dilithium and do some fighting, the chain reaction path pays 150 1M Parsteel Tokens and 17 1M Tritanium Tokens.
Where to find level 44 hostiles
For the chain reaction path, Perralon 472 itself has suitable targets. Current hostile data lists Independent Traders there from level 44 to 47 and Corvallen Mercenaries at 46 and 47.

Time Is A River comes directly before Open Wounds, and its 8.16 million Dilithium reward more than covers the 1.85 million this mission asks for on the Dilithium path. Paths to Tread and Überbleibsel eines Traums belong to the same Progenitor thread.
Tips
Decide based on your Dilithium balance when you reach the choice. The release step comes first on that path, so the Dilithium must be ready immediately.
