Klingon Advance Recon

The Klingon Advance Recon is a level 60–71 Klingon hostile that patrols deep Klingon space at warp 900–1550. It spawns as a Battleship, an Explorer, or an Interceptor, and it appears both as the regular Advance Recon and as a hazard-zone version the game tags “Klingonisch Advance Recon HAZ”; this guide covers both. Kills drop 6★ broken ship parts and swing your faction reputation, and the counter is simple: bring the class that beats the hull in front of you.

How to beat the Klingon Advance Recon

Hostile combat runs on a class triangle: Interceptors beat Schlachtschiffe, Battleships beat Explorers, and Explorers beat Interceptors, while Survey ships barely fight at all. The Advance Recon spawns in all three combat hulls, so check the hull icon before you commit. Bring an Interceptor against the Battleship version, a Battleship against the Explorer version, and an Explorer against the Interceptor version.

Every variant carries the Pen of Kahless ship ability, which raises its Shield Piercing, Armor Piercing, and Accuracy for the first 5 rounds of combat. The boost scales with level: 25% at levels 60–62, 50% at 63–65, and 75% at 66–71. Those opening rounds are when it punches through your mitigation hardest, so favor a fast kill or hull tanking over trying to shield-tank the early burst.

For crew, follow the usual principle: a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, backed by Offiziere that add damage or mitigation. The cadet crews are long outgrown at these levels, so check the officer tier list for current picks. Crews shift with the meta; treat any named combo as a starting point, not gospel.

Where to find the Klingon Advance Recon

The Advance Recon clusters in high-level Klingon space. Levels 60–64 sit around warp 900 in systems like Buyq’eal, Darklake, and Petra. From level 65 the spawns climb: warp 1000 gets you level 65, and the range tops out at warp 1525 for level 71 in systems like Dantak-6 and Kro’vaz. The deeper, higher-warp systems are the hazard-zone spawns, so expect the HAZ tag on the ships you meet there.

Rewards and what it drops

The headline drop is 6★ Broken Survey Parts, which fall from every hull variant, with 6★ Broken Explorer Parts and 6★ Broken Interceptor Parts appearing on some spawns. Every kill also moves your reputation: you gain Federation and Romulanisch points and lose Klingon points, so grind it only if your Klingon standing can absorb the hit or you hold it negative on purpose. Ship XP scales from 16,000 at level 60 to 57,000 at level 71.

Ablegen What it is
6★ Broken Survey Parts 6-star part material; drops from every hull variant, 794–21,898 per kill
6★ Broken Explorer Parts 6-star part material; appears on some spawns, 1,587–43,796 per kill
6★ Broken Interceptor Parts 6-star part material; appears on some spawns, 1,587–43,796 per kill
Federation Points Reputation gain with the Federation, 87,800–340,500 per kill
Romulan Points Reputation gain with the Romulans, 43,900–170,200 per kill
Klingon Points Reputation loss with the Klingon Empire, up to 638,400 per kill

Klingon Advance Recon firing pattern

The Advance Recon fires three energy weapons every round and one kinetic weapon every other round, and the kinetic shot hits about twice as hard per hit. The figures below come from the level 60 record and climb with level. Combined with Pen of Kahless, the nastiest moments are the kinetic rounds inside the first five rounds of combat, so time officer mitigation and hull repairs around them.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energie 3 40,500,000–49,500,000 Every round 10% (1.8x)
Kinetic 1 81,000,000–99,000,000 Every other round 10% (1.8x)

The Klingons in Star Trek

The Klingons are one of Star Trek’s oldest powers: a warrior culture built on honor, ritual combat, and the Great Houses, ruled from the homeworld Qo’noS. The empire traces its founding to Kahless the Unforgettable, the messianic figure whose name the Advance Recon’s ship ability borrows. On screen, Klingons went from Cold War-style adversaries in the original series to uneasy allies of the Federation after the Khitomer Accords, a shift embodied by Worf, the first Klingon officer in Starfleet. Their ships favor raw firepower and aggression, which the Advance Recon’s opening-rounds burst reflects in game.

Is the Klingon Advance Recon worth grinding?

Yes, if you need 6★ broken parts or want to push Federation and Romulan reputation while dumping Klingon standing. The ship XP at the top of the range is a solid bonus. Match your warp range to the level you can actually kill, pick the hull your best ship counters, and remember the deeper HAZ systems run the same drops at higher levels, so there is no rush to chase them until your ship is ready.
