Dangerous Appetites is a level 26 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, part of the VESTA storyline. A Romulanisch station has been attacked, and your investigation leads to a Romulan drone and then VESTA itself, both fought in the Kaikara system. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 13 to complete. The reward is 412,000 Parsteel and a 1 Day Peace Shield, and finishing it unlocks Origins of the End.
Dangerous Appetites objectives
Five objectives, all in one system, with no choice split:
- Investigate the Romulan signal. Location: Kaikara.
- Approach the asteroid. Location: Kaikara.
- Defeat the Romulan drone. Location: Kaikara. Enemy strength is roughly 154,890.
- Defeat VESTA. Location: Kaikara. Enemy strength is roughly 133,290.
- Isolate VESTA’s codebase. Location: Kaikara.
Everything happens in Kaikara. You follow the Romulan signal to an asteroid, where a Romulan drone attacks first. It is the stronger of the two fights at around 154,890. VESTA comes straight after at about 133,290, and once it is down the last step is to isolate its codebase, which ends the mission without a trip home.

The mission starts at warp 1 and needs warp 13 to complete. Kaikara is the only system involved, so once your ship can reach it, there is no further range to worry about.
The recommended level is 26, and the two fights are where that level shows. Both enemies sit well above 100,000 strength and come back to back.

Dangerous Appetites and Origins of the End
The next mission, Die Ursprünge des Endes, sets out to discover where VESTA really came from. Current game data for both:

Origins of the End has no fight but asks for a 110,000 Tritanium donation, so it is worth setting that Tritanium aside before you finish Dangerous Appetites. VESTA also appears in the level 4 mission Ich Bin Überall, where it threatens a Starbase.
Tips
Go in with a full hull. The drone and VESTA are fought one after the other with no return to your station in between, and together they add up to nearly 290,000 strength of opposition.
The drone is the harder fight. VESTA is the named target, but the drone is about 21,600 points stronger, so if your ship survives the drone, VESTA should not be the problem.
Keep the peace shield for when you need it. A full day of protection is most useful when you are about to go offline with a full cargo hold or a big stockpile, not on a quiet afternoon.
The 412,000 Parsteel goes a long way at this level. Put it toward whichever station upgrade is holding you back. More missions by level are on the Missionsleitfaden.
