Gaping Earth is a level 66 Federation mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, picked up in Endron Beta. A colony’s communications officer, Kasdy, sends out a mayday: the planet is literally crumbling, and there are not enough ships to evacuate everyone. It needs warp 1300 to start and to complete, asks for an 80,000 G6 Raw Ore donation and a 12-hostile fight, and pays 886,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel, 2,160,000,000 Dilithium and Föderation reputation. It has the biggest payout of the Endron Beta missions.
Gaping Earth objectives
There are five objectives and no choice split, all in Endron Beta:
- Scan the planet. Location: Endron Beta.
- Donate 80,000 G6 Raw Ore to stabilize the planet’s core.
- Defeat 12 hostiles of level 66 or higher.
- Evacuate the first group of colonists. Location: Endron Beta.
- Evacuate the second group of colonists. Location: Endron Beta.
Your scan shows the planet’s core has slowed abruptly and the crust is breaking apart under its own momentum. The planet cannot be saved, but beaming 80,000 G6 Raw Erze into the core will keep it turning a little longer. That buys less than an hour.
Kasdy asks you to deal with hostiles threatening the evacuees, which is the 12-hostile objective. The remaining spaceports are then damaged, so you pick up one stranded group of colonists, then Kasdy and the people sheltering in the administration building. The colony is lost, but far fewer people die than would have.

Gaping Earth is picked up in Endron Beta, and every located objective is there. Both the start and the finish need warp 1300. The recommended level is 66, and the hostiles must be level 66 or higher.

Tips
Have 80,000 G6 Raw Ore ready. The donation is the second objective, straight after the scan, and the mission waits on it.
There is no named boss. The 12 hostiles are the only fighting, and any hostile of level 66 or higher counts, so a ship that clears hostiles quickly does the job.
