Federation Scout

The Federation Scout is a Federation hostile that spawns in two separate level bands: 32 to 50 in and around Federation space (warp 24 to 185), and a high-level band from 61 to 70 in deep Federation space (warp 900 to 1700). There are no spawns between 51 and 60, and the top band skips levels 64, 67, and 69. It always flies an Interceptor hull, so an Explorer counters it across both bands. Kills pay Romulan and Klingon reputation at the cost of Föderation standing, with drops that climb from raw materials to 4★ and then 6★ Broken Interceptor Parts.

How to beat the Federation Scout

The Federation Scout only spawns as an Interceptor, so the counter is fixed: bring an Explorer and you hold the type advantage across its whole range. Explorers beat Interceptors in STFC combat, and since this hostile never changes hull, there is nothing to swap between levels. One Explorer build covers the 32 to 50 band; the 61 to 70 band needs a far stronger ship but the same class logic.

Respect the jump between bands. A level 50 Scout carries about 10.8 million total strength; the level 61 version carries about 4 billion. The high band is an endgame target, not a continuation of the mid-game grind, so step up only when your Explorer can take the incoming damage.

The high band also fights back with a defensive trick. Every spawn from 61 to 70 carries the Plausible Deniability ship ability, which recovers a share of its total shield HP for each of the first five rounds of combat, scaling with level: 10% at 61 and 62, 15% at 63 and 65, and 20% at 66 and up. Early shield damage keeps healing back, so favor sustained damage over an opening burst. The 32 to 50 band has no ship ability.

For the crew, run a captain that boosts weapon damage against hostiles, then fill the other seats with Offiziere that add damage or mitigation. The evergreen cadet crew (Cadet Kirk as captain with Cadet Spock and Cadet Uhura) works for the low end around level 32, but it thins out fast, so plan to bring stronger officers as you climb. Crews shift with the meta, so check current picks on the Officer Tier List before you commit to a build.

Where to find the Federation Scout

The low band tracks your level and scatters across a couple of systems at each step, from warp 24 to 27 in systems like Thama, Aiti, Andoria, and Siiolux out to warp 185 at Rylan by level 50. The 61 to 70 band lives in deep Federation space, one or two systems per level, from Solas Astra at warp 900 up to Lipuiram and Shannon at warp 1700. Match your warp to the band you can clear and work the nearer systems first.

Rewards and what it drops

The Federation Scout is a reputation and materials farm. Every kill awards Romulan Points and Klingon Points and lowers your Federation reputation, so grind it when you are pushing those two factions and can spare the Federation hit. The materials track the band: levels 32 to 39 drop Parsteel and Tritanium, level 40 to 50 adds 4★ Broken Interceptor Parts, and the 61 to 70 band pays 6★ Broken Interceptor Parts and 6★ Broken Survey Parts. Ship XP climbs from about 555 at level 32 to roughly 2,643 at level 50, then jumps to 17,600 at level 61 and 51,800 at level 70.

Ablegen What it is
Romulan Points Reputation with the Romulan faction (426 to 11,280 per kill in the low band; 181,000 to 371,200 in the 61 to 70 band).
Klingon Points Reputation with the Klingonenfraktion (213 to 5,640 per kill in the low band; 90,400 to 185,600 in the 61 to 70 band).
Federation Points Negative; attacking this ship lowers your Federation standing, by up to 696,000 at the top of the range.
Parsteel Gemeinsame building material for station upgrades and ship construction (1,266 to 2,507 per kill, levels 32 to 39).
Tritanium Refined material used across ship and building upgrades (94 to 175 per kill, levels 32 to 39).
4★ Gebrochene Interzeptorteile Salvage used to build and upgrade 4★ Abfangjäger-Schiffe (108 to 1,165 per kill, levels 40 to 50).
6★ Broken Interceptor Parts Seltene high-end salvage (1,763 to 25,127 per kill, levels 61 to 70).
6★ Broken Survey Parts Rare high-end salvage for survey ships (882 to 12,564 per kill, levels 61 to 70).

Federation Scout stats

Stats climb steeply with level, and the gap between the two bands is the single biggest step on the curve. One pattern worth noting in the low band: hull and shield HP balloon by level 50 while defense barely moves past its level 40 value, so those Scouts survive through raw hit points rather than mitigation. That rewards steady, sustained damage, which is another reason a durable Explorer suits the fight.

The Federation in Star Trek

The United Federation of Planets is the interstellar alliance at the center of Star Trek, formed in 2161 by Earth, Vulcan, Andoria, and Tellar. It runs on diplomacy, Wissenschaft, and exploration, with Starfleet handling defense and first contact rather than conquest. Most of the franchise follows Starfleet crews aboard ships named Unternehmen, from Kirk’s five-year mission to Picard’s era. In Star Trek Fleet Command the Federation is one of three major factions you can align with, alongside the Klingonen and Romulans. Gaining standing with one usually costs you standing with the others, which is the exact trade every Federation Scout kill makes.

Is the Federation Scout worth grinding?

Yes, at two points in your progression. In the 32 to 50 band it is a clean Interceptor-only target for Romulan and Klingon reputation, early Parsteel and Tritanium, and 4★ Broken Interceptor Parts, and a single Explorer clears the whole range without ship swaps. The 61 to 70 band is an endgame farm: huge reputation per kill and 6★ Interceptor and Survey parts, priced at warp 900 or better and a Battleship-sized power check for your Explorer. Either way, match your warp to the band you can handle, and skip it entirely if you want to keep your Federation standing high.
