Excursion is a level 65 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command and part of the Cult Eternus storyline. A cut-off distress call from a mining ship in the Somovka system gives Toryn a lead, and this time Howards is really there. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 1250 to complete, includes two fights, and pays 250 6★ Common Refined Gas and 383,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel. It is the mission where you finally get Howards back, and where a far larger threat shows itself.
Excursion objectives
There are five objectives and no choice split:
- Find Howards. Location: Somovka.
- Defeat the cultist. Location: Somovka.
- Clear a path. Location: Somovka.
- Rescue Howards! Location: Somovka.
- Bring Howards to your Station.
Toryn suspects the Cult captured the miners to secure the area and take new recruits. A Cultist hails you in Somovka with a sermon about the Nameless, Toryn mutes it, and you fight. That cultist is listed at about 4.5 billion strength.
More ships close in, but Toryn picks up Howards on sensors, so you clear a path through them; that fight is the tougher one, at about 7.5 billion. The Speaker warns you that you will never see Howards again, but Toryn beams him aboard. Then a huge ship locks you in a tractor beam and drains your power. Its commander speaks of the void and calls you Child of History. Toryn escapes by detonating a shuttle’s warp engine, and you beam him back and flee.

No pickup system is listed. The mission starts at warp 1 and needs warp 1250 to reach Somovka. After the rescue, the last step takes Howards back to your station. The recommended level is 65.

Where Excursion sits in the story
Excursion closes the search that started when the Cult took Howards in Eternity Stricken. The next mission is about keeping him alive.

Tips
The second fight, Clear a path, is listed at about 7.5 billion strength, well above the first cultist at about 4.5 billion. Judge your ship by that second number.
The two fights come back to back in Somovka, so arrive at full health. The final step is a trip home rather than a fight, so damage after the rescue does not hold you up.
