Hazardous Vocation

Hazardous Vocation is a level 65 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command and part of the Cult Eternus storyline. Howards is back aboard after Excursion but dying from something the Cult put in his blood, and your crew realises the cause comes from the Hazard systems he had been studying. The one objective is to collect 2,600 Hazard Particles. It needs warp 1 to start and to complete and pays 93,000 6★ Broken Survey Parts and 230,000 Raw Σ-Tritanium.

Hazardous Vocation objectives

There is a single objective and no choice split:

  • Collect 2600 Hazard Particles.

Toryn is losing Howards: his cells are breaking down fast, and it looks like a self-replicating virus. Your crew spots that the organisms are cosmic micro-cultures of the kind found in Hazard systems, which Howards had been researching. That gives Toryn a way to treat him, and he needs Hazard Particles to do it.

Once you collect them, the treatment works. Howards wakes up confused and in pain, and quickly warns that the Cult must not get the Child of History, the same name the stranger on the giant ship used for you in Excursion.

Wo und welcher Warp

There is no pickup system, and the objective has no fixed location, so the mission needs only warp 1 to start and to complete. The recommended level is 65. Where you gather the Hazard Particles is up to you.

Hazardous Vocation rewards

Where Hazardous Vocation sits in the story

After the rescue, the story slows down for a run of station tasks before the next big fight.

Mission Recommended level Warp to complete Story Belohnungen
Excursion 65 1250 Find Howards. 250 6★ Common Refined Gas, 383,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel
Hazardous Vocation 65 1 Try and save Howards. 93,000 6★ Broken Survey Parts, 230,000 Raw Σ-Tritanium
Further Expanse 65 1 Expand Maia’s capabilities. 72,000 6★ Raw Gas, 230,000 Raw Σ-Parsteel

Tips

2,600 Hazard Particles is the whole job, so start collecting as soon as the mission opens. The objective does not name a system, which leaves the route to you.

The Broken Survey Parts are the unusual reward here; no other mission between All Eyes On Us and Further Expanse pays them. The 230,000 Raw Σ-Tritanium matches the Σ-Parsteel payout of Further Expanse, the next mission.

For how the raw Σ-resources are used, see the Σ resources guide. Maia, the station A.I. that the next mission sets out to upgrade, first appears in the early story mission of the same name. More missions at this level are on the mission guide.
