The Data Snare is a Swarm storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you investigate reports of another Swarm invasion. You meet Bek Lan on Yridia, then head to Andvaris for two light fights at around 18,000 strength. It needs warp 13 to finish and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 7,000 Tritanium, 1,300 Dilithium and a Cyberpathic Interface, and completing it unlocks the next Swarm mission.
The Data Snare objectives
There are five objectives and no choice split:
- Meet Bek Lan on Yridia. Location: Yridia.
- Investigate the site of the Swarm assault. Location: Andvaris.
- Destroy the Nausicaan Battleship. Location: Andvaris. Enemy strength is roughly 17,801.
- Destroy Bek Lan’s Daten snare. Location: Andvaris. Enemy strength is roughly 17,996.
- Return to the Station for repairs.
The meeting on Yridia sets things up, and everything after that happens in Andvaris. You investigate the assault site, then deal with a Nausicaan Battleship and the data snare Bek Lan left behind. The two targets are almost the same strength. The mission ends with a trip home for repairs.
Wo und welcher Warp
There is no pickup system, and the mission becomes available at warp 1. Completing it takes warp 13, which covers both Yridia and Andvaris.
The recommended level is listed as 1. With both fights under 18,000 strength, a ship with a few early upgrades is enough, and warp 13 is the more likely limit for newer players.

The Data Snare and the missions around it
All three Missionen in this stretch need warp 13, so once you can reach Andvaris you can run them back to back.

The Data Snare and Infestation each pay one Cyberpathic Interface, so running both gives you two. Infestation also adds Jaylah shards to the payout.
Tips
Take a combat ship, not a miner. The fights are light, but a survey hull can still lose to a Nausicaan Battleship, and there are two targets to clear in Andvaris before you can head home.
Stay in Andvaris for both fights. The investigation, the battleship and the data snare all sit in the same system, so there is no reason to go back to your station between them unless your hull is badly damaged.
The Cyberpathic Interface is the one reward here you cannot mine or refine. The next Swarm mission, Infestation, pays another one, so finishing both gives you a pair.
