Der Schatten der Macht

The Shadow of Power is a Romulan story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you work with the Tal Shiar to arrest a corrupt Romulan senator. You pick it up in Alycen, it needs warp 105 to start and warp 120 to complete, and it runs across five systems with two fights of about 4.3 million strength. The reward is 500 3 Hour Speed Ups, 600 Romulan Credits and 374,000 Romulan Points, with Federation and Klingonisch reputation losses. The 500 speed ups are the standout reward.

The Shadow of Power objectives

The story line reads: arrest a corrupt Romulan senator. There are eight objectives and no choice split:

  • Treffen mit dem Tal Shiar agent. Location: Stelama.
  • Meet with the information dealer. Location: Naalur.
  • Disable the dealer’s ship. Location: Naalur. Enemy strength about 4,339,888.
  • Find the Senator. Location: Ardaji.
  • Follow the Senator. Location: Vita Nova.
  • Follow the Senator. Location: Asronal.
  • Arrest the Senator. Location: Asronal. Enemy strength about 4,301,671.
  • Bring the Senator to Stelama. Location: Stelama.

The mission starts and ends in Stelama. In between you question the dealer in Naalur, disable his ship, then pick up the Senator’s trail in Ardaji and follow it through Vita Nova to Asronal, where the arrest is a fight.

Wo und welcher Warp

The pickup system is Alycen. The mission needs warp 105 to start and warp 120 to complete, and it passes through Stelama, Naalur, Ardaji, Vita Nova and Asronal.

The game lists a recommended level of 1, which says little about the difficulty. Warp 105 to start and two fights at about 4.3 million strength are the real requirements.

The Shadow of Power rewards

Belohnung Amount
3 Hour Speed Up 500
Romulan Credits 600
Romulan Points 374,000
Klingon Points -130,000
Föderation Punkte -590,000

No next mission is listed as unlocked by The Shadow of Power.

Why the speed ups matter

500 3 Hour Speed Ups add up to 1,500 hours, or 62 and a half days of timer. That is the main value of the mission, well ahead of the Romulan Credits and Points.

The reputation cost is real, though. You gain 374,000 Romulan Points but lose 590,000 Federation Points and 130,000 Klingon Points, so it suits players siding with the Romulaner.

Tips

Expect a lot of travel. Eight objectives across five systems means many jumps, so a ship with good warp speed will save time.

Repair before Naalur and again before Asronal. The dealer’s ship and the Senator have almost the same strength, and the Senator comes at the end of a long chase.
