Deidamia in STFC: abilities, role, and best uses

Deidamia, a Wave Defense specialist

Deidamia is an epic Engineering officer in Star Trek Fleet Command, placed in the Starfleet Academy group and tagged to the Klingon faction. She is a specialist rather than a generalist. Almost all of her value sits in a single officer ability that boosts one kind of damage during Wave Defense.

If you run Wave Defense and lean on Isolytic Cascade damage, she has a clear place on your bridge. If you are early or mid game and have never touched Wave Defense, she is not a priority.

There is one more thing to know up front: Deidamia has no captain ability at all, so you never want to seat her in the captain’s chair.

Star Trek background

Deidamia is original to Star Trek Fleet Befehl rather than a character lifted from a television series, but her story is built on canon Trek history. She comes from a clan that turned nomadic after the Burn, the galaxy-wide disaster that crippled warp travel and scattered communities across space.

Her people set out on a generational ship to find somewhere safe to rebuild. Over the years they gave up on resettling and grew into a small fleet of traders who serviced busy hubs and far-flung outposts alike. Deidamia grew up in that life and believed she was content with it.

That changed when she took a delivery job she should have refused. The pay was good and she ignored her instincts. The cargo turned out to be stolen Föderation technology, and Starfleet tried her for a crime she did not know she was committing. In prison she met a Klingarite named Nus Braka, who kept her steady and reshaped how she saw the Federation. When Braka’s crew broke him out, Deidamia went with them and never looked back. The pirate queen she became owes everything to him, though in quiet moments she still wonders who she might have been if she had turned that job down.

Deidamia’s role in STFC

Deidamia is an Engineering-class officer of epic rarity. That puts her among the higher-investment Offiziere in the game, the kind you rank up with a real shard commitment rather than pick up casually.

Her function is narrow and easy to summarize. She is a Wave Defense officer who improves Isolytic Cascade damage against one hostile ship type. That makes her a situational pick aimed at players deep enough into the game to be running Wave Defense and building around Isolytic mechanics. She is not a mining officer, a faction-grinding officer, or a general PvP captain.

Captain ability and officer ability

Captain ability: Chain of Command

This is the part to read carefully. Deidamia’s captain slot, listed as Chain of Command, gives no bonus. The ability text says outright that she has no captain’s maneuver, so putting her in the captain’s chair does nothing for your ship. Use her as a bridge officer in one of the two non-captain seats, or send her below decks when her ability does not apply to what you are doing.

Officer ability: Pirate Queen

Pirate Queen is where her value lives. When Deidamia is on the bridge, she increases Isolytic Cascade damage against Interceptor hostiles at the start of combat while you are in Wave Defense. The boost is large and grows each time you promote her, so a higher-rank Deidamia is meaningfully stronger than a fresh one in that exact situation.

Two conditions have to line up for the ability to do anything. You need to be in Wave Defense, and the target has to be an Interceptor-type hostile. Outside those conditions the ability sits idle, which is why she is a specialist rather than a flexible everyday officer.

Where Deidamia shines

Deidamia earns her seat in Wave Defense runs where Isolytic Cascade is part of your damage plan and the waves include Interceptor hostiles. In that setup she adds damage you would not otherwise have.

She is a strong fit if you are an end-game player who already invests in Isolytic mechanics and wants to push Wave Defense performance against the right targets. She is a weak fit if you are still working through faction grinds, early hostile farming, or standard PvP, because none of those touch her ability.

How to get Deidamia

Officer shards in STFC move through events, faction stores, and recruitment offers, and which of those carries a given officer changes over time. For Deidamia, check the current store and event rotations in your game client rather than relying on a fixed source, since availability shifts with each update. When she does appear, collect shards until you have enough to recruit her, then keep collecting to promote her through her ranks.

Shard costs and ranking up

Deidamia promotes through five ranks. The shard cost climbs steeply at the top end, which is normal for an epic officer. The figures below are current as of the latest game Daten and show the shards needed to move into each rank.

Rang Shards to promote into rank
1 120
2 120
3 240
4 360
5 960

Reaching max rank takes 1,800 shards in total. The jump to rank five alone costs 960, so plan for a long collection window if you intend to take her all the way.

Crew and synergy

Because Deidamia has no captain ability, build your crew around someone else in the captain’s chair and use her for the Pirate Queen bonus in a bridge seat. The natural pairing is a captain whose maneuver supports Isolytic Cascade or Wave Defense damage, with Deidamia adding her Interceptor-specific boost on top.

She belongs to the Starfleet Akademie group, so officers from that group can share class-based synergy bonuses when crewed together. Beyond that, treat crew building as situational: the rest of your bridge should serve whatever Wave Defense strategy you are running, and Deidamia is the piece that sharpens damage against Interceptor targets.

Character traits

Officer traits in STFC unlock passive bonuses as you spend resources to level them. Deidamia’s specific trait names and their costs are best confirmed on her officer screen in your game client, since trait data is the kind of detail that shifts between updates. Check the current list there before committing resources to leveling them.

Frequently asked questions

Is Deidamia worth ranking up?

Only if you run Wave Defense and build around Isolytic Cascade damage. For that player she adds real value against Interceptor hostiles. For everyone else, her 1,800-shard climb to max rank is better spent on officers you will use more often.

Can you use Deidamia as a captain?

No. She has no captain ability, so the captain’s chair wastes her. Seat her as a bridge officer so Pirate Queen can fire, or place her below decks when her ability does not apply.

Where do you get Deidamia shards?

Through whatever store or event currently carries her. That rotates over time, so check your in-game store and event tabs rather than assuming a single fixed source.

What content is Deidamia good for?

Wave Defense against Interceptor-type hostiles, specifically when Isolytic Cascade damage is part of your fleet’s plan. Outside that, her ability does nothing.

Should you chase Deidamia?

Deidamia is a specialist reward for end-game players who live in Wave Defense and care about Isolytic Cascade damage. If that describes your roster, she is a clean addition to a bridge built for that fight. If it does not, she is easy to skip without missing much, and your shards will do more elsewhere.
