The Bortas is a grade 3 Uncommon Klingon Battleship in Star Trek Fleet Command, built at Shipyard level 28. It works as a station-defense ship: its Revenge ability raises the damage of every other ship and defense platform guarding your base. With a cloaking refit and two heavy torpedo weapons, it gives early and mid-game Klingon players a defensive anchor without a rare-ship price tag.

How to get the Bortas

The Bortas needs 100 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 28 before you can start the build. Once those are met, the build cost is:

  • 1,900,000 Tritanium
  • 42.500 Dilithium
  • 2,200 3★ Common Refined Ore
  • 275 3★ Common Refined Crystal

Build time is 17 days at base, and it drops as your Shipyard and build-speed research improve. Bortas blueprints have appeared in the Klingonenfraktion store and can come from defeating higher-level hostiles, so Klingon-aligned players tend to collect them over normal play rather than through a single event. The Bortas is scrappable once your Betrieb reaches level 42, which makes it a source of Uncommon Battleship parts later in the game.

Bortas ability

The Bortas ship ability is Revenge. While the Bortas defends your station, it increases the damage of all your other ships and Defense Platforms. Like every ship ability, it stays active on its own with no button to press. The bonus starts at 10% at ship level 1 and climbs to 32% at level 45 (roughly 14% by level 10, 20% by level 22, and 29% by level 40). In play, Revenge rewards keeping the Bortas parked on your station: it does not boost the Bortas itself, it lifts everything else defending alongside it, so it earns its slot in a base-defense fleet rather than a roaming attack fleet.

Bortas active ability

The Bortas can unlock Ship Cloaking through a refit. When cloaked, the ship is hidden on the map; the cloak ends when its duration runs out, when you enter combat, when you start mining, or when you dock at a station. Cloaking is the classic Klingon tool for moving through hostile territory unseen or repositioning without drawing an attack. Because it drops the moment combat begins, it is a travel and positioning tool, not something that helps mid-fight.

Stats and tiers

These are base values from the current game Daten. Research, buffs, and Offiziere raise them in play.

Ebene Warp (speed / range) Impulse Cargo (protected) Shield HP Hull HP Health (displayed)
1 2.7 / 28 85 10,000 (230) 7,320 31,824 19,572
5 3.1 / 40 85 22,970 (280) 7,320 38,647 22,984
9 3.5 / 60 85 60,000 (450) 7,320 69,228 38,274

Health (displayed) is the shield and hull average the game shows on the ship card. The Bortas leans on hull rather than shields, which is normal for a Klingon battleship.

Weapons and firing pattern

Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is the number of rounds between shots after that. Values below are at max tier 9.

Waffe Typ Shots Warm-up Cool-down Damage Crit chance Crit damage
Phaser Energie 1 1 1 15,106–18,463 10% 150%
Photonentorpedo Kinetic 1 1 2 37,030–45,259 10% 150%
Photonentorpedo Kinetic 1 1 2 37,030–45,259 10% 150%

The two kinetic torpedoes hit far harder than the energy phaser but fire less often, so the Bortas does its best damage against targets weak to kinetic weapons.

Crew slots and officer bonus

The Bortas opens officer slots as it levels up:

Ship level Officer slots
5 1
10 2
20 3
30 4
35 5
40 6
45 7

The ship also boosts your officers’ stats as it progresses. On the Bortas the attack, defense, and health bonuses are identical at each step of the ladder below.

Amount Bonus
140 30%
280 60%
455 90%
630 120%
840 150%
1,120 180%
1,540 210%
2,100 240%
2,800 270%
4,200 300%

Bortas refits

The Bortas has two refits that unlock abilities rather than change its stats:

Nachrüstung What it does
Bortas Cloaking Enables the ship’s cloaking ability. Costs 60 shards to unlock.
Bortas Relentless Assault Unlocks the Relentless Assault ability, which raises the ship’s base damage against Hostiles and Armadas. Requires a level 28 Armory and 60 shards.

Relentless Assault scales with its own research track, so its exact bonus depends on how far you take that research rather than a fixed number.

Crew for the Bortas

Because Revenge only matters while the Bortas defends your station, crew it for that job. A defensive battleship wants officers that raise weapon damage or shield mitigation so it survives and pressures attackers, paired with a captain whose ability supports base defense. Officer picks shift as the game’s meta moves, so check the Officer Tier List for current recommendations before you commit resources to a bridge.

The Bortas in Star Trek

Bortas means “revenge” in the Klingon language, which is where the ship’s ability name comes from. In canon the IKS Bortas served as the flagship of the Klingon High Council and was commanded by Gowron during the Klingon Civil War seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation. That ship was a Vor’cha-class cruiser, while Star Trek Fleet Befehl uses the Bortas as its own battleship class built around Klingon Imperial Fleet lore. The in-game story treats it as one of the Empire’s most recognizable warships, often flown by Chancellors, which fits a ship named for vengeance.

Is the Bortas worth it?

The Bortas is a solid grade 3 pickup for Klingon players who want a station defender. Revenge makes it valuable the moment you are being attacked at home, and cloaking adds map utility that most ships at this grade lack. It will not carry you through the mid game as a frontline attacker, and once you pass Operations 42 you can scrap it for Battleship parts. Chase it if you play Klingon and defend your base often; skip it if you only fight in open space.
