A Reliable Source is an Augment mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. A Tal Shiar agent wants information on what is happening in Khan’s space, and you decide whether to help or feed them lies. You pick it up in Kor Na Ron, and both the start and the finish need warp 21. The game lists a recommended level of 1. The lying path pays four Khan Noonien Singh shards, and the helping path pays speed ups and refined Erze.
A Reliable Source objectives
The shared opening has three objectives:
- Investigate the strange signal in Raddan. Location: Raddan.
- Save the Romulanisch vessel from pirates. Location: Raddan. Enemy strength is roughly 30,910.
- Entscheiden Sie, wie Sie mit dem Tal Shiar-Agenten umgehen wollen.
After the pirate fight in Raddan the mission splits in two. Each path has its own objectives and rewards.
Choice A: help the Tal Shiar agent
- Take readings of the Lydan system. Location: Lydan.
- Take readings of the Terazon-X31 system. Location: Terazon-X31.
- Return your findings to Kaikara. Location: Kaikara.
Rewards: 9 3★ Ungewöhnlich Refined Ore, 10 3 Hour Speed Up, 1 Dark Matter, 200 Augment Points.
Choice B: lie to the Tal Shiar agent
- Take false readings of the Lydan system. Location: Lydan.
- Report the false information to the agent in Kaikara. Location: Kaikara.
- Defeat the Romulan spy. Location: Kaikara. Enemy strength is roughly 129,975.
Rewards: 4 Khan Noonien Singh shards, 180,000 Tritanium, 1 Dark Matter, 200 Augment Points.
Choice A is all travel after the split. Choice B has one fewer system to visit but ends in a real fight, and the Romulan spy at about 129,975 is four times stronger than the pirates in Raddan.
Wo und welcher Warp
The mission is accepted in Kor Na Ron and needs warp 21 from start to finish. The systems involved are Raddan, Lydan and Kaikara on both paths, plus Terazon-X31 on the helping path.
The recommended level is listed as 1. If you take Choice B, the Romulan spy is the step that tells you whether your ship is ready.

The mission does not unlock a follow-up part.
Tips
Choose by what you need. If you are building up Khan Noonien Singh, lying to the agent is the only path that pays his shards, and it adds 180,000 Tritanium. If you would rather avoid a fight, helping the agent pays 30 hours of speed ups across ten 3 Hour Speed Ups.
The Dark Matter and 200 Augment Points come either way, so they should not affect the decision.
Bring a combat ship for the opening regardless of your plan. The Raddan pirates at about 30,910 stand in front of both paths.
