Combat Training 50: Veteran is the top tier of the 50th Combat Training step in Star Trek Fleet Command. You defeat one hostile captain with an enemy strength of about 11,862,502. It starts and finishes at warp 1, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 68,625,000 Dilithium, fifteen 1 Day Speed Ups, 3,200 Ultra Recruit Tokens and eight James T. Kirk shards, and completing it unlocks Combat Training 51: Rookie. It pays nearly double the Dilithium of the level 48 Veteran tier.
Combat Training 50: Veteran objectives
The series story line asks you to test your skills in battle against escalating difficulties of hostile enemies. There is one objective and no choice split:
- Defeat the hostile captain. Enemy strength is roughly 11,862,502.
The objective does not name a system, and there is nothing else to do: one win completes the tier.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no fixed pickup system.
The recommended level is listed as 1. For a captain close to 12 million strength that number is meaningless, so measure your ship against the enemy strength instead.
Combat Training 50: Veteran rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Dilithium | 68,625,000 |
| 1 Day Speed Up | 15 |
| Ultra Recruit Token | 3,200 |
| James T. Kirk shards | 8 |
Completing this tier also unlocks the next mission in the series, Combat Training 51: Rookie.
Level 50 Rookie and Veteran
The Combat Training 50: Rookie tier asks you to defeat three level 50 hostiles and pays 36,600,000 Dilithium and eight Gorkon shards. Together with the Veteran tier, that is 105,225,000 Dilithium and eight shards each for Gorkon and Kirk from level 50.
How the late Veteran captains compare
| Mission | Captain strength | Dilithium | 1 Day Speed Ups | Ultra Recruit Tokens | Kirk shards |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Combat Training 41: Veteran | ~1,124,459 | 5,642,000 | 13 | 1,700 | 3 |
| Combat Training 45: Veteran | ~5,867,534 | 19,125,000 | 14 | 2,100 | 5 |
| Combat Training 46: Veteran | ~5,773,328 | 23,625,000 | 14 | 2,200 | 6 |
| Combat Training 48: Veteran | ~8,404,033 | 34,875,000 | 14 | 2,400 | 7 |
| Combat Training 50: Veteran | ~11,862,502 | 68,625,000 | 15 | 3,200 | 8 |
Level 50 nearly doubles the Dilithium of level 48 while the captain gets about 41% stronger. It is also the first tier in this group to give fifteen 1 Day Speed Ups instead of fourteen.
For comparison, Combat Training 40: Veteran paid 70,000,000 Dilithium against a captain of about 2,104,711. Level 41 reset the Dilithium rewards to a lower scale, and level 50 is where they climb back to almost the same figure, against a captain more than five times stronger.
Tips
Bring the strongest ship you have and a full crew. A single loss means repairing and trying again, which is expensive at this strength.
Spend the fifteen 1 Day Speed Ups on your longest station upgrades. Two weeks of build time is most valuable on the multi-month upgrades that come late in the game.
Clear the Rookie tier first for its Gorkon shards, then take on the captain. Other missions are listed on the mission guide.
