Combat Training 48: Veteran is one of the Combat Training missions in Star Trek Fleet Command, the series built to test your ships against escalating difficulties of hostile enemies. It has a single objective, defeat the hostile captain at roughly 8,404,033 strength, and no travel requirement: warp 1 to start and to complete, recommended level 1. The reward is large: 34,875,000 Dilithium, fourteen 1 Day Speed Ups, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens and 7 James T. Kirk shards. Finishing it unlocks Combat Training 49: Rookie.
Combat Training 48: Veteran objectives
There is one objective and no choice split:
- Defeat the hostile captain. Enemy strength is roughly 8,404,033.
No system is attached to the objective in the data, and there is nothing to donate or collect. The whole mission is a single fight against a captain above 8.4 million strength, which makes this one of the pure combat checks in the game: your ship either wins it or it does not.
Where and what warp
There is no pickup system, and both warp values are 1. The recommended level is listed as 1, but that says nothing about the fight. The hostile captain at about 8.4 million is the requirement, and it is well into late-game strength.
Combat Training 48: Veteran rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Dilithium | 34,875,000 |
| 1 Day Speed Up | 14 |
| Ultra Recruit Token | 2,400 |
| James T. Kirk shards | 7 |
Completing it also unlocks Combat Training 49: Rookie. The mission before it is Combat Training 48: Soldier.
Fourteen 1 Day Speed Ups come to 14 days of speed ups in one reward, which is the line that stands out most next to the Dilithium.
How the Veteran tiers compare
The Veteran tier appears at several Combat Training levels. Comparing level 48 with levels 32 and 40 shows how the fight and the rewards change as you climb.
| Mission | Hostile captain | Dilithium | Speed ups | Ultra Recruit Tokens | Officer shards |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Combat Training 32: Veteran | About 418,676 | 2,600,000 | 14 × 5 Hour | 900 | 2 Nero |
| Combat Training 40: Veteran | About 2,104,711 | 70,000,000 | 15 × 12 Hour | 1,600 | 6 James T. Kirk |
| Combat Training 48: Veteran | About 8,404,033 | 34,875,000 | 14 × 1 Day | 2,400 | 7 James T. Kirk |
The captain at level 48 is about four times the strength of the level 40 captain. The speed ups, recruit tokens and Kirk shards all go up with it. Dilithium is the exception: level 48 pays about half the Dilithium that level 40 does, so the jump in value here comes from the speed ups and tokens rather than the Dilithium line.
Tips
Bring your strongest ship and crew. With a single fight at about 8.4 million, there is no way to split the work or wear the target down across objectives.
If the fight is out of reach, the series stops here until you can win it, because Combat Training 49: Rookie only unlocks once this mission is complete.
Plan how you will use the 1 Day Speed Ups. At fourteen days of time skips they are best saved for long upgrades or research rather than short timers.
If you are building James T. Kirk, the Veteran tiers at levels 40 and 48 pay 6 and 7 of his shards. Every other mission by level is on the mission guide.
