Combat Training 32: Rookie asks for one thing: destroy three level 32 hostiles. Pickup and completion both sit at warp 1, so there is nothing to plan on the travel side. The payout is 1,050,000 Dilithium plus 6 shards each of Kerla, Livis and Nyota Uhura, and finishing it moves you up the Combat Training ladder.

Combat Training 32: Rookie objectives

A single objective covers the whole mission:

  • Defeat 3 level 32 hostiles.

Hostiles above that grade also count, so you do not need to hunt for exact level 32 spawns. If your ship already outclasses the tier, kill whatever is in front of you and the counter still moves. No fixed system is attached to the objective, and nothing branches, so there is no choice split and no dialogue decision that changes what you do or what you get.

Story framing here is a difficulty test rather than a plot beat. You are sent against escalating grades of hostile enemies, and the Rookie tier at 32 is one rung on that ladder. It measures whether your ship and crew can win three fights at that grade.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 covers both the pickup and the completion, which is the lowest figure the game asks for. No warp research and no range upgrade stands between you and this mission. It runs as a neutral mission, so faction reputation stays out of the picture whichever space you end up grinding in.

This one is an auto link continuation. It arrives from the part before it rather than sitting somewhere waiting to be found, so you will not be flying to a mission giver. Combat Training 31: Veteran comes immediately before it, and Combat Training 32: Soldier follows.

Since no destination is fixed, pick your hunting ground for convenience instead. Any system with a level 32 or higher hostile spawn works, and the closer it is to your station the shorter the repair round trip if a fight goes badly.

Combat Training 32: Rookie rewards

Reward Amount
Dilithium 1,050,000
Kerla shards 6
Livis shards 6
Nyota Uhura shards 6

Dilithium is the reason to bother. Just over a million from three hostile kills is a better rate than farming it directly, and it funds officer promotion along with a long queue of upgrades that stall without it.

The three shard stacks are the quieter half of the payout. Six shards apiece will not unlock anyone from a standing start, but they add to whatever you already have banked toward those officers from recruiting pulls and other missions. Whether that matters depends on how close any of the three already is to its next rank.

Clearing the mission also opens the next part of the Combat Training chain, which is the main argument for working through these instead of leaving them parked in your log.

Tips

Take the fights with a ship that beats a level 32 hostile comfortably rather than one that scrapes through. Three kills means three chances to pick up hull damage, and a repair timer costs you more time than the mission saves. If you are close to the line rather than well past it, upgrade first and come back.

Because higher level hostiles count, the fastest route is often to grind whatever tier you were already farming. Players sitting well above level 32 can finish this during normal resource runs without changing target at all, which turns the mission into a free payout attached to work you were doing anyway.

Nothing else needs preparing. No donations, no resource stockpile, no warp upgrade, no travel. The mission does not expire and the rewards do not shrink, so if three fights at that grade is a stretch today, come back after your next round of ship upgrades and clear it in one pass.
