Cartographical

Cartographical is a KSG mapping mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. You pick it up in Kur’than, and it needs warp 400 to start and complete. You map three systems, mine 100 5★ Crystal and defeat 14 hostiles of level 56 or higher. The reward is 1,700 3 Hour Speed Ups and a KSG Datapad, plus Klingon standing. It asks for more grinding than most KSG missions, and the speed ups are a big payout for it.

Cartographical objectives

The story line is to map Independent space. There are five objectives and no choice split:

  • Map the Belmont system. Location: Belmont.
  • Map the Pterodasia system. Location: Pterodasia.
  • Mine 100 5★ Crystal.
  • Map the Ishka’du system. Location: Ishka’du.
  • Defeat 14 hostiles of level 56 or higher.

The mapping steps are travel. The mining and hostile steps have no fixed location, so you can mine and hunt wherever suits your ships, as long as the crystal is 5★ and the hostiles are level 56 or higher.

Where and what warp

Cartographical is picked up in Kur’than and needs warp 400 to start and to complete.

The listed recommended level is 1. In practice the hostile requirement sets the bar: your ship has to beat 14 enemies of level 56 or above, and you need a miner that can pull 5★ Crystal.

Cartographical rewards

Reward Amount
3 Hour Speed Up 1,700
KSG Datapad 1
Klingon Credits 800
Klingon Points 2,900,000
Romulan Points -5,846,400

1,700 3 Hour Speed Ups is 5,100 hours of speed ups. The Romulan Points loss is the usual cost of KSG work; see faction reputation.

Cartographical and the other Kur’than missions

Mission Warp to complete What it asks of you Main reward
Fallen Sky 400 travel steps and a 27M Dilithium payment 1 5★ Common Interceptor Parts
Cartographical 400 mine 100 5★ Crystal and defeat 14 hostiles of level 56+ 1,700 3 Hour Speed Ups
And All the Stars Will Die 400 four travel steps 210 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups
Hail the Glow Cloud I 400 one or two fights around 32 to 33 million strength 2,500 3 Hour Speed Ups or 1,700 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups

All four are picked up in Kur’than, and each also pays 1 KSG Datapad, 800 Klingon Credits and 2,900,000 Klingon Points while taking away 5,846,400 Romulan Points.

Cartographical and Hail the Glow Cloud I pay the most speed up time of the group, but Cartographical is the only one that needs mining and a hostile grind.

Tips

Split the work between two ships. A miner can collect the 100 5★ Crystal while a combat ship clears the 14 hostiles, since neither step is tied to a system.

The mapping steps come in a fixed order, and the mining sits between Pterodasia and Ishka’du, so start mining early to avoid a hold-up.

Save the 3 Hour Speed Ups for long builds and research, where they go furthest. Other missions by level are on the mission guide.
