A Gift from the Shadows is a story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you investigate a mysterious message and meet a hidden benefactor’s messenger. It needs warp 70 to complete, and its one real hurdle is a 70 million Parsteel donation. There is no fight at all. The reward is 80 4★ Uncommon Refined Ore and 18 8 Hour Speed Ups, and finishing it unlocks the next mission in the Corvallen rebel storyline. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but the warp and the donation put it well into the late game.
A Gift from the Shadows objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Meet with Vorun. Location: Stradania.
- Find the benefactor’s messenger. Location: Stradania.
- Donate 70M Parsteel to the Messenger.
- Return to the new rebel base. Location: Mina.
The first two steps both happen in Stradania. You meet Vorun there, then track down the messenger in the same system. The third step is a straight donation of 70 million Parsteel, and nothing moves forward until it is paid. The last objective takes you to the new rebel base in Mina, which ends the mission.
Where and what warp
The mission can be picked up from warp 1 and has no pickup system. Completing it needs warp 70, which covers the trip to Stradania and on to Mina.
The recommended level is listed as 1. The real bar is the combination of warp 70 range and 70M Parsteel in the bank, and both of those only come later in the game.

A Gift from the Shadows is the only one of these with no combat. It trades the fight for the largest single donation in this stretch of the story.
Tips
Save up the Parsteel before you accept it. 70 million is a lot to find in one go, and the mission cannot progress past the messenger until it is paid.
Any ship with warp 70 range can run this. With no hostile listed, you can send a ship that is not your main fighter and keep that one free for the combat-heavy missions on either side.
The 18 8 Hour Speed Ups are 144 hours of timer reduction, which helps offset the Parsteel you just gave away. Refined ore at the 4★ uncommon tier is slow to collect, so the 80 here is worth keeping for upgrades that ask for it.
