The Valiant Few is a Star Trek Fleet Command mission in which you join a group of fellow Independents against a Borg invasion fleet. It is recommended for level 25, starts at warp 1 and needs warp 18 to complete. Everything happens in Metra Alpha: you meet Caddeck’s fleet, clear 12 hostiles, then survive a Borg Cube at roughly 129,975 strength before heading home. The reward is 452,000 Parsteel and 7 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore. The Cube is the real test here.
The Valiant Few objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Rendezvous with Caddeck’s fleet in Metra Alpha. Location: Metra Alpha.
- Defeat 12 hostiles in Metra Alpha. Location: Metra Alpha.
- Defend yourself against the Borg Cube. Location: Metra Alpha. Enemy strength is roughly 129,975.
- Return to your Station.
The rendezvous is travel only. The 12-hostile step is a kill count in the same system, so you can stay in Metra Alpha and work through it without moving. The Borg Cube is a single scripted target, and once it is down, the last step sends you back to your station.
Where and what warp
The mission picks up at warp 1 and needs warp 18 to complete. Metra Alpha is the only system named, which makes this a single trip out and a single trip home.
The recommended level is 25. The Borg Cube, at close to 130,000 strength, is what makes that number matter.
The Valiant Few rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Parsteel | 452,000 |
| 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore | 7 |
The Parsteel and the refined ore are the whole reward.
How it compares with other level 25 missions
The Valiant Few shares its recommended level with several other missions. From the current game data:
| Mission | Warp to complete | Toughest scripted fight | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Valiant Few | 18 | Borg Cube, about 129,975 | 452,000 Parsteel, 7 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore |
| Swift Reprisal | 17 | Quinton, about 55,452 | 34 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore |
| Into Thin Air | 20 | None; 10 hostiles of level 23 or higher | 240 3★ Interceptor Parts, 80 3★ Explorer Parts, 335,000 Parsteel |
The Borg Cube is more than twice as strong as Quinton, so of these three, The Valiant Few is the one to leave until your combat ship is ready.
Tips
Clear the 12 hostiles, then repair before the Cube if you can. The Cube comes straight after the kill count, and you will want full hull for a fight at nearly 130,000 strength.
Use a combat ship, not a miner. Two of the four steps are combat, and the Cube will not lose to an unarmed hull.
The Parsteel is the larger part of the reward and goes straight into building upgrades at this level.
The previous mission is A Friend Who Bleeds and the next is No One Knows. The other level 25 missions above are Swift Reprisal and Into Thin Air, and the full list is on the mission guide.
