The Settling Nomad

The Settling Nomad is a short combat mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you protect Ghovik by warding off Boslic hostiles. It can be picked up in any of twelve systems, all at warp 13, and warp 13 is also enough to complete it. The recommended level is 1. There is one objective, defeat 15 Boslic ships of level 17 or higher, and the reward is 3 1★ Survey Parts. It is a small payout, so take it when you are already hunting Boslic ships.

The Settling Nomad objectives

The mission has a single objective and no choice split:

  • Defeat 15 Boslic Ships of Level 17 or higher.

The story is simple: Ghovik is being harassed, and your job is to ward off the Boslic hostiles and protect him. Only Boslic ships count, and they need to be level 17 or higher. No system is named for the kills, so you can take them wherever you find Boslic ships at that level.

Where and what warp

The Settling Nomad can be accepted in twelve different systems. Warp 13 is listed both to start and to complete, so any of them will do:

With that many pickup points, you are unlikely to have to go out of your way for it. Pick up the mission in whichever of these systems is nearest to where you plan to hunt. The recommended level is 1, but the hostiles you need are level 17 or higher, and that is the number to plan around. Because warp 13 covers both ends, the mission never asks for more range than you needed to accept it.

The Settling Nomad rewards

Completing the mission pays 3 1★ Survey Parts. It does not unlock a follow-up part, so the mission stands on its own.

Tips

Take a combat ship. Every one of the 15 kills is a fight against a level 17 or higher Boslic ship, and there is no travel or mining step to break it up.

Check the faction and level before you attack. Kills only count if the target is a Boslic ship at level 17 or above, so hostiles from other factions, or Boslic ships below 17, do not move the counter.

Weigh the effort against the reward. Fifteen fights for 3 1★ Survey Parts is a thin return on its own. It makes the most sense when you are already hunting Boslic ships for another goal and can pick this up along the way.

Survey Parts are the whole reward, with no resources or speed ups alongside them, so the mission is worth most to a player who is building up a survey ship. Every other mission by level is on the mission guide.
