The Price of Unity is a Klingon story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you track down the Sword of Kahless and try to reclaim it from Venik. The game lists a recommended level of 1, it starts at warp 1 and needs warp 13 to complete, and it splits on whether you attack Venik or bribe him. Both paths pay 3 Gorkon shards and end with a fight against K’Thak at roughly 37,726 power. The attack path adds 300,000 Parsteel; the bribe path adds 25,000 Officer XP.
The Price of Unity objectives
The opening steps are shared by everyone:
- Meet with the Informant in Antonehk. Location: Antonehk.
- Defeat 7 hostiles in Davidul. Location: Davidul.
- Find the mercenary on Nojusor. Location: Davidul.
- Interrogate Venik or bribe Venik.
At that last step the mission branches into two paths.
Attack Venik
- Disable the mercenary ship. Location: Davidul. Enemy strength is roughly 23,149.
- Confront K’Thak on Dhi’Ban. Location: Dhi’ban.
- Defeat K’Thak. Location: Dhi’ban. Enemy strength is roughly 37,726.
Bribe Venik
- Donate 2,000 Dilithium to the mercenary.
- Confront K’Thak on Dhi’Ban. Location: Dhi’ban.
- Defeat K’Thak. Location: Dhi’ban. Enemy strength is roughly 37,726.
The only difference in the work is the first step after the choice: a fight against the mercenary ship, or a 2,000 Dilithium payment. Both paths end at Dhi’ban with the same K’Thak fight.
Where and what warp
The mission is available from warp 1 and needs warp 13 to complete. The route runs from Antonehk to Davidul, then on to Dhi’ban for the finish.
The recommended level is listed as 1. K’Thak at around 37,726 is the fight that decides whether your ship is ready, and it is on both paths, so you cannot avoid it by choosing the bribe.
The Price of Unity rewards
| Reward | Attack Venik | Bribe Venik |
|---|---|---|
| Gorkon shards | 3 | 3 |
| Parsteel | 300,000 | None |
| Officer XP | None | 25,000 |
The game data lists no next mission unlocked by The Price of Unity. The storyline it belongs to begins with Day of the Dove.
Which choice to pick
The Gorkon shards are the same either way, so the decision comes down to the side reward and how you want to spend the extra step.
Attacking Venik costs you one extra fight, against a mercenary ship at about 23,149, and pays 300,000 Parsteel. That fight is weaker than K’Thak, so any ship ready for the finale can handle it.
Bribing Venik skips that fight for 2,000 Dilithium and pays 25,000 Officer XP. It is the quicker path if Dilithium is not a concern, and the Officer XP is useful for levelling crew.
If you are short on building materials, attack. If you want faster officer levels and have Dilithium to spare, bribe.
Tips
The seven hostiles in Davidul must be beaten in that system, unlike missions where any hostiles count, so fly there before you start fighting.
Repair before Dhi’ban. On the attack path you arrive after two combat steps, and K’Thak is the strongest enemy in the mission. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
