The Starfleet Academy: Remote Campus is a late-game station building that raises your Critical Mitigation against Academy Training Drones and Academy Combat Drones in Academy systems and Duo Wave Defense. It unlocks at Operations level 61 and upgrades to level 80. From level 20 it opens daily Sigma-resource exchanges in the Academy Refinery and lowers 7★ building material costs, and from level 30 it adds PvE and PvP Apex Barrier. Build it if you run Academy content; skip it if you don’t. Every upgrade after level 1 costs Class Honors, 222,710 in total to reach level 80, which you buy in the Academy Refinery with Academy Engineering Credits.
What the Starfleet Academy: Remote Campus does
The Remote Campus is a home base for the 32nd century Starfleet Academy cadets, and its main job is defensive. Every level increases Critical Mitigation against all Academy hostiles in Academy systems and in Duo Wave Defense. Critical Mitigation is true critical damage mitigation, applied after every other bonus you carry. Every 500 points reduces the critical damage you can take by 1%, so the building keeps scaling as you push it higher. It starts at 500 at level 1 and reaches 2,000,000 at level 80.
Two more benefits open at level 20. The Academy Refinery Sigma bonus increases the Σ-Parsteel, Σ-Tritanium, and Σ-Dilithium you pull from daily exchanges, and 7★ Building Material Cost Efficiency lowers the 7★ Crystal, Gas, and Ore you spend on station upgrades. At level 30 the building starts adding Apex Barrier for both PvE and PvP fights. Both Apex Barrier buffs pause while Tal is on your bridge, and the PvP version also pauses while you defend your own station. Reaching each 10th level from 20 onward hands out a one-time gift of Academy Field Passes, Simulation Codes, and Σ-Speedups.
| Buff | Active from | Value at milestone levels |
|---|---|---|
| Academy Drone Critical Mitigation | Level 1 | 500 (L1), 42,500 (L20), 750,000 (L50), 2,000,000 (L80) |
| 7★ Building Material Cost Efficiency | Level 20 | 50% (L20), 170% (L50), 300% (L80) |
| Sigma Refinery Bonus | Level 20 | 100% (L20), 250% (L50), 300% (L80) |
| PvE Apex Barrier | Level 30 | 500 (L30), 700 (L50), 1,000 (L80) |
| PvP Apex Barrier | Level 30 | 5,000 (L30), 6,860 (L50), 10,000 (L80) |
These values can shift with balance updates.
Where to get Class Honors
Class Honors are used only to upgrade the Remote Campus, and they come from the Academy Refinery. The chain has three steps. Academy Training Drones drop Training Merits: 6★ Training Merits at levels 61 to 70 and 7★ Training Merits at levels 71 to 80. You exchange those Merits for Academy Engineering Credits in the Academy Refinery, and Engineering Credits buy Class Honors there, alongside Σ-Parsteel, Σ-Tritanium, Σ-Dilithium, U.S.S. Athena Blueprints and Simulation Codes.
The same drones are the ones the Remote Campus Critical Mitigation works against, so every level you add makes the Merit farm that pays for the next level a little safer. The one Campus Schematics you need for level 1 is a separate item used only to unlock the building.
Class Honors needed by level
The table lists the Class Honors for each milestone level and the running total from level 1.
| Level | Class Honors for this level | Class Honors from level 1 |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 160 | 460 |
| 10 | 255 | 1,565 |
| 15 | 320 | 3,045 |
| 20 | 375 | 4,820 |
| 25 | 460 | 6,970 |
| 30 | 535 | 9,495 |
| 35 | 1,000 | 14,370 |
| 40 | 1,000 | 19,370 |
| 45 | 1,000 | 24,370 |
| 50 | 1,000 | 29,370 |
| 55 | 1,990 | 38,430 |
| 60 | 2,460 | 49,820 |
| 65 | 6,960 | 78,200 |
| 70 | 8,810 | 119,580 |
| 75 | 10,250 | 168,960 |
| 80 | 11,050 | 222,710 |
The two breakpoints covered below are cheap in Class Honors: level 20 needs 4,820 in total and level 30 needs 9,495. Levels 61 to 80 take 172,890, more than three quarters of the full 222,710.
Where to find Academy drones
Academy Training Drones spawn in Academy systems from level 61 to level 80, one system per drone level, and travel to Academy training systems uses an Academy Field Pass. Warp ranges climb quickly past level 72.
| Drone level | System | Warp range |
|---|---|---|
| 61 | Itraneia | 900 |
| 62 | Tegawa | 1,000 |
| 63 | Nupuqep | 1,100 |
| 64 | Zhroix | 1,200 |
| 65 | Thalamph | 1,250 |
| 66 | Dreitr | 1,300 |
| 67 | Aewia | 1,400 |
| 68 | Heratcha | 1,500 |
| 69 | Sonum | 1,550 |
| 70 | Caphonus | 1,550 |
| 71 | Phemeon | 1,550 |
| 72 | Miyoad | 1,600 |
| 73 | Byrii | 2,100 |
| 74 | Rignala | 3,000 |
| 75 | Diyeoie | 3,500 |
| 76 | N’Dvoh | 4,000 |
| 77 | Xeaij | 4,500 |
| 78 | Fazox | 5,000 |
| 79 | Ekokaron | 5,500 |
| 80 | Yirohef | 6,000 |
Levels 61 to 70 drop 6★ Training Merits and levels 71 to 80 drop 7★ Training Merits, so the system you farm decides which Merit tier you collect.
How to unlock the Starfleet Academy: Remote Campus
You place the Remote Campus once your station reaches Operations level 61. The level 1 build asks for 3,080 6★ Common Refined Gas, one Campus Schematics, and 270,100 Σ-Parsteel, and finishes in about 26 minutes.
The Operations gate stays at 61 for most of the climb, then rises near the top. Level 65 needs Operations 65, level 70 needs Operations 70, level 75 needs Operations 75, and level 80 needs Operations 80. So the first 64 levels only ask for Operations 61, while the last handful move in step with your Operations level.
Upgrade costs and build times
Costs shift from 6★ Common Refined Gas at the bottom to 6★ Uncommon, then 6★ Rare and 7★ gas near the top, alongside a steady Class Honors and Σ-Parsteel bill. Build times stay short into the 50s and then climb steeply.
| Level | Cost | Build time | Requires |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3,080 6★ Common Refined Gas, 1 Campus Schematics, 270,100 Σ-Parsteel | 26m | Operations 61 |
| 10 | 16,150 6★ Common Refined Gas, 255 Class Honors, 916,400 Σ-Parsteel | 1d 4h | Operations 61 |
| 20 | 30,750 6★ Common Refined Gas, 375 Class Honors, 1.354M Σ-Parsteel | 5d 3h | Operations 61 |
| 30 | 11,800 6★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 535 Class Honors, 1.927M Σ-Parsteel | 11d 22h | Operations 61 |
| 40 | 22,300 6★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 1,000 Class Honors, 3.6M Σ-Parsteel | 21d 14h | Operations 61 |
| 50 | 32,800 6★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 1,000 Class Honors, 3.6M Σ-Parsteel | 34d 2h | Operations 61 |
| 60 | 43,350 6★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 2,460 Class Honors, 8.851M Σ-Parsteel | 49d 10h | Operations 61 |
| 65 | 26,200 6★ Rare Refined Gas, 6,960 Class Honors, 57.56M Σ-Parsteel | 214d 12h | Operations 65 |
| 70 | 61,750 6★ Rare Refined Gas, 8,810 Class Honors, 197.3M Σ-Parsteel | 709d 18h | Operations 70 |
| 80 | 11,050 Class Honors, 30,550 7★ Rare Refined Gas, 2.008B Σ-Parsteel | 2690d 20h | Operations 80 |
Taking the Remote Campus from level 1 to 80 totals roughly 338,320 6★ Common Refined Gas, 1.051M 6★ Uncommon Refined Gas, 282,250 6★ Rare Refined Gas, 178,700 7★ Common, 407,100 7★ Uncommon, and 121,250 7★ Rare Refined Gas, plus 222,710 Class Honors and about 10.61B Σ-Parsteel. Unboosted build time adds up to more than 20,900 days, which is why almost no one hard-maxes this building without heavy speedups.
How the Starfleet Academy: Remote Campus fits your station
This building only pays off if you actually run Academy content: the Academy systems, the Training and Combat Drones, and Duo Wave Defense. If you never touch that content, the Critical Mitigation does nothing for you and the upgrade bill buys little.
If you do run Academy content, the useful targets are the level 20 and level 30 breakpoints, not level 80. Level 20 turns on the daily Sigma-resource exchanges and the 7★ material discount, both of which help your wider station economy. Level 30 adds the PvE and PvP Apex Barrier that carries into ordinary combat. Reaching level 30 costs a fraction of the time and resources the top levels demand, so most players park the Remote Campus somewhere in the 20s or 30s and come back to it slowly.
Two naming clashes trip people up. Class Honors are not the Starfleet Honors that upgrade The Nova Squadron, and the Remote Campus is a different building from the Academy, where your unassigned officers stay.
Is the Starfleet Academy: Remote Campus worth upgrading?
For Academy players, yes, up to a point. The Critical Mitigation, refinery exchanges, cost discount, and Apex Barrier all matter if you grind Academy systems and Duo Wave Defense, and the early levels are cheap enough to clear quickly. Past level 65 the build times run into hundreds and then thousands of days, so treat the top of the track as a long-term project rather than a near-term goal. Players who ignore Academy content can safely leave this one unbuilt.
