Provocation is a Romulan-side story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you convince the Klingons to hunt down a group of deserters. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 70 to complete, with the action in B’Oh. The game lists a recommended level of 1; warp 70 and 15 kills against level 43 or higher hostiles are the real bar. The reward is 75.6 million Parsteel, 186,000 Officer XP, 600 Romulan Credits and 311,000 Romulan Points, at the cost of Federation standing.
Provocation objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Infiltrate Klingon Space. Location: B’Oh.
- Defeat 15 Hostiles Level 43 or higher.
- Plant the evidence on ‘IqnaH QaD. Location: B’Oh.
- Return to your Station.
You slip into Klingon space at B’Oh, clear 15 hostiles of level 43 or higher, then plant the evidence on ‘IqnaH QaD before heading home. The hostile kills have no system attached, so any level 43 or higher target counts.
Where and what warp
No pickup system is listed. The mission is available from warp 1, but completing it needs warp 70 for the trip to B’Oh.
The game lists a recommended level of 1. There is no scripted boss, so the practical requirements are warp 70 and a ship that can beat level 43 hostiles fifteen times.

Provocation and And the Galaxy Shook pay the same Parsteel, Romulan Credits and faction swing. The difference is in the extras and the fighting: Provocation pays Officer XP for a round of hostile kills, while And the Galaxy Shook pays Battleship Parts for one scripted fight.
A Lamb to Slaughter, the next mission, is a big step up. It needs warp 105 and has a fight at about 4.14 million strength, so plan your ship upgrades before moving on.
Tips
Clear the 15 hostiles near B’Oh. Any level 43 or higher hostile counts, so doing them close to the evidence drop saves a separate trip.
Target hostiles right at level 43. They count the same as tougher ones and cost less repair time.
Weigh the Federation penalty. Losing 320,952 Federation Points is a large hit if you are building Federation reputation.
